Is Telegram the new measure of ICO success?

Yeah. sometimes investors consider the number of people in a telegram group before they start joining the project. Moreover, they use the answers from admins in the group to track the progress of the project. But that is not also the case. I have seen a telegram group with 24k members, but the ICO never succeeded.

Nowadays all bug projects has a telegram channel and unfortunately people are used to it. If the project won't have it's channel that may make people choose another one.

Maybe because you will have a convesation with the admin and project manager how the project or the tokens doing. You will see how they update time to time. And even you can ask them what is happening or what is the right thing to do. Maybe that will assure you that project is dal or not because of the frequent interaction and communication with the admins and manager. But for me still the potential of the project and how the manager is doing their job is to measure the success of the ICO.

Yes it's one of the most important criteria for me to select and ICO. But there're some points that should be checked before taking the final decision.
- check if ICO is having a bounty campaign or referral programm and estimate the number of bounty participants by checking the spreadsheets
- check if ICO is having an airdrop
- check the activity of the users in the main telegram group.
So if and ICO doesn't have bounty or airdrop and they have more than 10k users, than it definitely worth paying attention to this ICO.

Agreed on all points. Seeing groups with 60k members and 5 messages in a day is a common thing now with referrals and airdrops

In large Telegram chats, bots are often visible, but this is a small problem. I do not pay attention to the number of participants, the main thing is stability and convenience of work.

Good yes in a way but not in others. Numbers don't mean anything since you can buy the numbers - or just do an airdrop and people come flocking for pennies.  Getting into the chat to see if they are all just bots is the check you need to be doing.

I really don't think the Telegram ICO should be used as a benchmark for success. Telegram has hundreds of millions of users already supporting its platform, it has by far the largest reach of the ICOs so far, so it's only natural that it met such ridiculous caps. I really don't think we will see another ICO as huge as the Telegram ICO unless a huge corporation like Apple/Google or Microsoft launches one.

More commonly ICOs only aim for under $10m or so.

Having a Telegram account means you are particular with security. Telegram is known for having a great respect to their users identity or personal information. Its a great tool for communication and instant broadcasting of ICO updates. Telegram have a huge number of followers. I know big companies are using Telegram as their way to communicate delicate information to their employees.

Its not the matter i think to make the success of the ico like what you said above.
Telegram follower is not about general but we talk about company follower mate.
Its right that the number of follower can measure the ico success or fail.

I dont think it should be a new metric for success, you can easily blow up the group with airdrop. But on other hand i am a part of few groups that risen organicly and i can confirm that it had to do with success but its really hard when you are new in the group to decide if it was organicly or airdrop

I regularly use social networks, but I do not forget about ICOM Telegram. There is still a problem with fake participants, but this will soon be eliminated.

Telegram member counts are not an indicator for me.
But conversations on telegram group is really important. Try to ask hard questions about the project and future plans.
If support team can answer logically than it will be a succes project for sure.

I cannot tell that telegram has a big help to for a platform to become successful because most of the participants of telegram are just joining to earn free altcoins so i do not think that it was really productive.

I take a look at telegram and twitter when I have to decide to join a bounty campaign or to invest in an ICO... community grow is very important even if the project and the idea are more important..
