Telegram is good means for ICOs to reach their audience but I don't necessarily agree that the number in a telegram group will guarantee the ICO success, the group might just be filled with airdrop participants who are waiting to receive their airdrop tokens.

Unfortunately, the size of the telegram group is not an indicator of the quality of success. For example, GBX - a small community-is a very strong project. INSTAR with the larger community very bad went on exchange. Smiley Smiley
There are different projects, different people and different investors. Someone can fully invest in the project, and someone puts a couple of cents and waits for the others to do the same. The investor is not so much, so not everyone gets the laurels of success.

I have seen so many telegram groups which have lots of members but they seem not to succeed with the projects and tokens because so many are just bubble and not real users, so to judge from telgram is not a healthy judgement.

Been seeing projects' Telegram groups blow up and I think that's an attribute of success. Personally, when I find a project, I do judge them by their social media presence. How active a telegram channel does say a lot with their demand.

With the rise of groups exceeding Telegram's 50k member cap...what do you guys think?

Well, I guess so. As we can see ICO's telegram account is the means of communication with their investors. We can see there how many investors invested in an ICO because of their large community. From there we see how successful an ICO is, they use telegram channel to interact with their large community which is the easies way from both parties to communicate.

It seems to me that telegram is very good in this regard. Anonymous cryptocurrency-anonymous messenger: D But I also like the fact that people can Express their opinion without fear of condemnation and laws. This is the place of true "freedom of speech".

If I check the telegram group of any project and observed that the subscribers are much and the admin of group is very quick at responding when it comes to people questions ans query, I see it as a sign of well organized project and the probability of succeeding is very high.

I don't think so because if a coin fails it's Telegram could still be huge even though it's irrelevant. It is not an indication of success but it can help spreading new ideas to many people.

I agree, telegram is on of the best means nowadays to reach more audience but it's not necessarily means that these audience are investors. But yes, it can be one of the factor that could contribute to the success of the ICO. Because personally, if I joined any bounty program, I'm also checking the number of members in telegram as one of my gauge.

I think that in part you can judge this. Telegram is now the main means of communication of the community of crypto-lovers and all discussions are held in telegrams! Therefore, we can judge the size of a community of a project.

My only question is: why Telegram? Why did it become the de facto main platform for ICOs? Why not discord for example?

I am also curious about this. I like Discord and found it easy to interface with.

yes, I always judge a project will be successful or not from the number of followers in social media, one of them is telegram, the more interaction between potential investors and developers will be better.

I don't think so, I guess high activity is a small plus, plenty of ICOs with active telegram channels have failed though. Not hard to fill a telegram up with an airdrop either.

Yeah, this is makes me thing the same. I often see a good success project is the one have many followers and supporters in their social media.
but you can adding anyone to your group in telegram, so it is still not a valid parameters to measure.

I will say you can not base your decision solely on the number of people in the telegram group. We have seen some "not so good" projects having massive members on telegram just because they are airdropping some tokens.

I think it is a pointer to chances the ICO will be successful but it is only one element of the overall picture. Some of the Telegram groups are bloated with bots and dead accounts there may be 30,000 members in there but only 30 or 40 people actually communicating.

Telegram is not a vital indicator of success. Yes, this is a very popular social network, but even a large number of followers in the telegram channel don't indicate that the project is legit. Sometimes people use special services in order to collect a lot of followers. This is only an illusion of success.

I started noticing that more and more people consider Telegram group size as one of the factors that show ICO visibility and the level of hype around it. It seems that it should attract people attention, lead to a successful ICO and strong uptrend performance on secondary market.

It is one of the potential contribution for success because if there are many participants or members on your telegram group. It means that there are many potential investors and supporters for the ICO.

Telegram is the easiest way of communication specially for ICO related group. Easy to attract newbies, but telegram is too sensitive and can easily spam block you Smiley

I don't use telegram as a measure of success because there are ICOs who manage to create a hype for their project but end up failing. In Telegram, I pay attention to the responsiveness of admins. For me that is an indication of team engagement with the project and less likely to be a scam
