I am still a member and clearly not qualified enough to the rules of this post.  Nevertheless, here are my posts and maybe you may find time to check it:

I think the Merit System needs some time in order to stabilize.  I hope that many high-ranked members will apply as merit source so that there will be enough merit for circulation in the future.  As your rank go high, the number of merits to rank up also increases exponentially and full members, senior members, and hero members need to exert extra effort to move to the other ranks.

I have written in the last few weeks more in Portuguese than in English. But I have many topics and posts in English. I hope you like it since if I received 20 merits it would be missing just one for me to ranking up. Smiley

I must say that merit system has encouraged me to post more meaningful content, I was inactive for a few months and now

That I'm back, I'm going to need some merits for the legendary rank, I can't show you 10-20 posts and ask you to read them.

I can show you an example of what I could post and if I get any merit for it then it would certainly help me to continue.

What I have done is that I wrote something in my language first and then translated them to English.

The system is definitely unfair as the merits are always circulating among the high rankers and hardly or never at the newbies level.

If you step back and think about your comment, you will realise why it happens. You can make good posts as a new member, but you may have to work harder and research your replies. This process is called learning. If you don't do it, then you will never learn and improve your posting skills. You will also be missing out on many of the benefits that accrue from active membership of this forum.

whether an account like me can still get merit, and how.
Please help.

Well, it highly depends on whether you continue posting as you are doing now or try and post constructive stuff. I mean, (literally) all of your posts are tweets and facebook links, nobody will ever merit those posts. I'd like to believe that you probably can engage in discussions in your local board and/or (improve your English to) engage in English boards discussions. You can also take a look at merit stats https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;stats to get an idea about merited posts and maybe get inspired. Having said that, you probably should just forget about it and use the forum for what it's actually supposed to be used for: Discussing cryptocurrency related matters with your fellow human beings.

hi why cannot we go above the newbie level even I have activities I am stuck here

this forum applies the new rules, if you want to go up to Jr. member you must have at least 1 merit
in this forum there have been many discussing about merit if you still ask like this you most likely never read a thread on this forum

Old rules about merit & activity

As you said good post  and more research about particular topic . Last few month i did everything but still my merit level is 0. Again new rules has been changed for bitcointalk member because of that  I have been replaced from Jr member to newbie .It seems to be unfair

Good posts are information from the bitcoin forum, not only prioritizing levels but also providing us to make posts that really produce the right quality for us and also for bitcoin investors. Posts that qualify are a form of our promotion of bitcoin hunters.

I don’t have much Merit to give but I’m going to give it up until it’s all gone. I’m not sure if this is the right section for this thread because I’m not really selling anything. It’s about accounts so I’ll just leave it here until someone decides to move it. I don’t know if this is wrong to do. I don’t care if I get negative trust for doing this because I don’t buy anything here, sell anything here, join signature campaigns or post routinely in threads that even show the trust rating. Essentially I don’t make money here so I don’t use trust anyway.

I felt sorry for SOME of the members that posted in the merit thread. They seemed to be fairly articulate, fairly knowledgeable, rational and really trying to be members of this group of dreamers (community).

Here’s how it’s going to work. You’re not just going to beg for merit and I give it. Do not PM me and offer to pay me for merit points. Your money means nothing to me. I have given away more bitcoin than you will likely earn while on this forum (just ask Gleb Gamow if you don’t believe me). I will report you to a mod that will give you negative trust for being a potential scammer. You will ask me to research your post history and direct me to 10-20 posts that you believe show you have a deep desire to learn about, use, and support bitcoin. I will then ask you a couple of questions about how bitcoin works and you will answer them. I don’t care if you take some time to research the answer if you come up with the correct answer. That just means I’ve made you learn more about bitcoin than you knew previously.

Bitcoin does not mean altcoin. I know altcoins are more popular on this forum than bitcoin. I don’t care. I will only help bitcoiners level up. If most of your post history is in altcoin threads I won’t help you. I do not consider Bitcoin Cash to be bitcoin. If you don’t know what the real bitcoin is then you haven’t been here long enough for me to help you. Which leads me to the group I’m willing to help.

Rank                  Required activity            Required merit
Brand new                    0                            0
Newbie                         1                            0
Jr Member                   30                            0
Member                       60                           10
Full Member                120                           100
Sr. Member                 240                           250
Hero Member              480                           500

New members, Newbies, Jr Members and Members don’t need any merit. They don’t have enough post history to judge so I won’t be helping them.

Full members, Sr. Members and Hero Members really got screwed with the merit system. Some of them were really close to leveling up and now have to wait until they’ve impressed the right person to probably get only one merit point from them. The most extreme case of this is Hero Member. They may need hundreds of merit points to level up which could take a very long time to get.

You will be working for 20 merit points. Good luck to all. I will announce when they’re gone and lock the thread.

I will no longer be responding to off-topic posts in this thread. If you fail to get a response from me you can reread this post to find out why.

Here is the link to a thread where you can earn merit while you learn about bitcoin. Many thanks to pugman and bill gator for their hard work and generosity. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2968050.0

Here is the link to a thread where altcoin miners can earn merit. Many thanks to philipma1957 for helping out people in the altcoin section. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2970278.0

Yes you are right in terms of offering merit to those posting a reasonable and value post. You seem sincere by sticking to your professional ethics (by saying Do not PM me and offer to pay me for merit points. Your money means nothing to me. I have given away more bitcoin than you will likely earn while on this forum (just ask Gleb Gamow if you don’t believe me).

Being sincere to oneself is invaluable. So we should try to be honest to oneself and others, and as a result, merit system will also be a right place free of any nepotism.

hope all start thinking like this.
80% of total merits send to meta posts and Legendary accounts (by this way most of accounts will stoped and a few will rank up).
we need more time to know how people will use this system.

Yes you are right, not only senior accounts like legendary or meta posts can make quality posts. Even junior members can make good posts. But the bitter fact is that junior members are looked down upon. So there is a need to make some changes in merit system.

Self-Custody is a right. Say no to"Non-custodial"

Yes.  They are looked down upon by higher ranked members because jr members are a lower rank.  hahahahahaha

Furthermore, they are looked down upon because they are not yet known, so if the Junior members post regularly and substantively and genuinely, then they can become better known, gain rank and they won't be looked down upon as much because they will go up in rank and go up in credibility so long as they earn merits, and make substantive and meaningful contributions to the forum.

And, yes, changes have been taking place in the forum, including the January implementation of the merit system (which was an attempt to assist quality of posts and make it more difficult for shit posters to rank up), and then the most recent change that causes the need for 1 merit before any newbie can reach junior member status.  The most recent change should help as a filter too, so in that regard, it seems that the changes have been moving towards making rank more important rather than less important as your suggestion seems to imply that everyone should be equal (which is not likely to happen in the forum or in the real world, either).

1) Self-Custody is a right.  There is no such thing as "non-custodial" or "un-hosted."  2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized.  3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k
