Why not play games online instead of gambling?

When gambling becomes someone's main hobby, of course he would not like to play other games that has no element of gambling directly and vice versa. Beside that, gambling gives a chance to get fast money that won't available at games online.

I've had online games as my main hobby as well as having gambling as my main hobby. Can't say I prefer either one over the other but gaming always brings me back considering I love it so damn much. Gambling has almost always been about money and sometimes you just get real sick about it if you are on a losing streak or whatever.

I do not like online games much as they require very good internet connection which I most of the time do not have. Here, even after making huge monthly payment, you get internet with daily limits and it can get consumed in playing heavy multiplayer online games. In case of gambling, the websites are light and do not consume that much internet.

They were right not everyone has the same interest when playing and that's how people are unique in each of everyone. And this is your opinion that most of them could take it and most could argue you a little bit more. People are so unexpected and not that really contented to everything if they know they could be more than what they are, they fly to that wall and jump in to another wall.

That is not what OP or the thread is contemplating. The part where they are talking about just playing games does not involve putting money on the table or placing bets. The thing is they are imagining a situation like comparing playing PUBG than gambling on poker. Something like that. Indeed even online/computer games are usually gambled on, but that is a different aspect of the game.

But mostly online games, people download and play it without money and only for freehand fun, while in gambling people should play with money in game and it is luck he win or not. I have been playing games in free to play mode, it is actually like playing a casino games in a free chip or playmoney mode.  If you study the structure of the game, you kill monster, it drops an item.  Killing monster is equal to bet and item drop is like the result of the bet.  If you want to double the outcome you need to top up and still, the probability of dropping a rare item to make your character stronger is way too hard. Just like what most of the people here thinking about hitting the jackpot in a gambling game.  So whether we like it or not, we spend money on both online game and gambling games.

Hmm, so how your post related to this discussion? Are you misunderstanding the main discussion here? As I know it is not about offline vs online but it is about playing online games (no money involved) vs gambling.
I guess you are wrong to say about many gamblers shy to gamble offline, probably it applies to those who are not in area where gambling is legal. For those who live in are where gambling is legal then they do not need to be shy, proven by many gamblers shares their experience on youtube without closing their face.

I don't think that it has to be that one is better than the other or that one is more prefered than the other. I think most people that do play a lot of games also stumble upon some gambling every now and then, IMO it fills two seperate needs. I can feel like gambling and not at all like I want to game and the other way around, depends on my mood and what I feel like I want to do at that point.

Both gambling as well as online gaming can give you joy to some extent but the joy in online games would be much more than the joy in gambling and the reason behind this fact is that when you are playing gambling, as you said on your comment, there is an enrollment of money and people play it by making their mind more attentive than playing other games which puts a lot of stress on their minds.

Of course people don't gamble just to have fun and pass some time. Or maybe they actually do it, but it all depends on what makes them tick. With that I mean, that maybe some people like to feel the excitement of risking something, and that's why they gamble. Since risking money is their way of having fun and passing time. Also, that doesn't mean that they don't both things. Playing normal online games, and playing some casino games, or poker, or doing some sports betting. I know I do all those, so one thing does not stop someone from doing the other.

Yes, playing online game is different from gambling. In gambling you could lose your money, it is more stressful and it is not just for fun. People play online games just for fun.

They are quite similar. There are people who play pubg and get skins or clothes or whatever they sell. Or get fortnite and get something shiny and what not. Some people are still playing pokemon go (me included) and spend money to get coins and buy stuff there and spend time.

However some people just favor gambling over gaming. I for example gamble with smaller amounts  like couple cents at most on each bet and my wagered amounts are really funny and low compared to how many bets I have done, I am almost at "faucet levels" of betting comparing to my bet numbers. Hence I do not spend too much money on gambling, probably less than many people spend on games, which results with me having fun with gambling like its a game.
