Yes those type of games are good for pastime if you really don't have something to do with your time but these games aren't the ones that was described by the topic starter. Online games like those MMORPG, MOBA, combat FPS and other types of same game. I enjoy both games, gambling games and online games but I usually stay with online games when I'm enjoying.

There are many reasons why people prefer gambling from gaming. For me it's mostly the time required for each of these. If I gamble I spend an hour doing it and can move to something else. Online gaming requires a lot more time as RPG games are divided into quests and many of them can't be stopped until you reach a safe point. There are boss fights for which you assemble a team and need to reach the destination and win the battle (I played some wow in my time ) I wish I had as much free time as 10 years ago.

You can gamble even just for few minutes and you are not obliged to finish what you started. The same goes for RPG or any online game but the longer you stay there, you'll become stronger. While in gambling, its opposite the longer you stay the higher risk you have.

This also can be a time related issue why some preferred to gamble instead of gaming.

I just know one reason for gambling instead of gaming online and that is greed for more money. Everyone in this world needs money because the sources of income are less and demands are high. People want to use any short cup way to make money, that’s why they gamble. But they are wrong because nobody can make money in gambling rather lose his own.

Sometimes we can play games online especially on the android phone because I see that many of my friends playing mobile legends although they are playing gambling too. Well i think its because they cannot find the happiness they are looking in online gambling. In online gambling we cannot find new set of friends, we can just log on if we are stress on work but doing it alone is not a stress reliever. It will just double the stress you are facing.
Also the gambling can bring you happiness  when you won, some colleagues  will celebrate  it with you, and it will give you money.

People have different thoughts about this. Online games is a good way to put the time pass without even spending lots of money, but there are also people looking for past time and at the same time finding ways to win something like money. Gamblers are different than gamers, that's why they share the same world in online technology because they both are just letting the time pass and also for recreation purposes.

I wonder why people start gambling when they feel dissatisfaction and loneliness. They can engage themselves in some good hobbies, like gardening, reading books, helping needy people. I think the best answer for that is many people believe that because they say gambling is for their past time and they want to have also earnings while having past time. Unlike in online game many people don't earn while playing unless they are in a tournament. But for me I believe that if people wants only to kill time or past time I also suggest them to play online games rather than gambling in order to avoid losing of money and save it.

First factor I am seeing : If you're a kid , you like to do or to play online games than gambling or even online casinos. They find it quite boring. Meaning to say, age plays an important role. If an individual is mature enough, it will choose online gambling than games.

Second factor I am seeing : we can earn money in gambling (although not necessarily 100% chance of winning) but still there is a chance to earn money. In playing games we get nothing.

I think those who are gambling because of loneliness and depression are those that doesn't want to deal with people. Being around people will just remind them of their loneliness. Yeah you are right it is good to play online games for time pass instead gambling and losing money. The problem is this that those who are gambling addictors will gamble only and they have no interest in online games. There mentality is only to win big money in short time and that’s why they gamble online, but the results are always against their well.

Because if you do you will realize that the games by themselves are not very fun, what adds the thrill and excitement is the possibility of earning and losing money, on the other hand video games are designed with the intention of being fun from the very beginning, so it is very obvious to me that the nature of the games are very different.

We accept that fact and that's tempting to do if you ever know how to gamble. Having a glance on how much you can potentially earn with gambling will encourage you. That's me before but life changes so do mine.

The mindset a lot of people always have towards gambling is for sure to make a lot of money from it, otherwise, we would not see someone say he is trying to use some strategy to rake in some good wins or some sort, and for real, it is normal as every human mind is fashioned to at least want to try to win in whatever they do, but the idea of not facing reality and just hopping into the gambling platform thinking it should bring in some good stories is what has made a lot of people to face the harsh nature of gambling.

It would still depend. Others are just gambling so they have something to be addicted to and now that their money is draining because of that bad habit, they have to find a substitute which isn't as expensive as gambling. In online games, you can find a community. That way, you're going to have a sense of belonging while being hooked on something. Before, I used to like gaming, then I didn't, and now I do. It's all about finding what games are for you and what aren't. Just because a game is trendy, doesn't mean you're going to enjoy it as well. And sometimes a game might have few players but still be enjoyable for you.

As kids, we used to substitute punishment for reward. You get to punish your opponents when you win or your opponents get to punish you when you lose. It's still the same reward mechanism going on in your brain which makes gambling fun. Without it, you're pretty much just practicing for whatever game you're playing.
