Why not play games online instead of gambling?

Many but not all gamblers are claiming they gamble for fun and pass time. I was just thinking. If it is the reason why people gamble then why not play online games? There is a lot of good and challenging onlne games wherein you can interact with other people online?

In my case I don't really play online RPG games, but with 5 vs5 strategy games like dota 2 yes I play with them. It is not wrong to play the games you want right whether it is gambling or not. The truth is I am playing currently with my friends, and sometimes skip for a moment to play some dice games.

Please read some posts above to see that you can win big money, millions of USD in some cases, playing games online such as Dota , Fortnite, Counter-Strike etc. The main difference is that you have to be one in a million to start earning money playing these games, while in gambling anyone can win depending on luck. I'm not saying gambling is more suitable for making money, because I think that trying to make money with gambling is a bad idea overall, but statistically it is more likely to win $200 in gambling than earning that amount playing computer games like Fortnite. And regarding the fun component, it is a very controversial question, what, in fact, is more interesting to play, poker or Dota? For me it's the former, but I know there are people who prefer the latter.

Yeh I also agree on it if people wants to entertain their selves then they can also do some online games instead of being addicted on gambling. It is much more funfor me and vvery interesting but I guess some people are much more preferred on gambling since they want more exciting and much challenging.

Same here i can also do both playing online games and online gambling but id say that i can spend more time on online gaming because they are more enjoyable and wont cost me anything so its okay if i loose and i will play again not unlik to gambling that once you loose you will pause and think deeply if you will continue or not  and gambling is verry fast paced  .

Me I played both online games and gambling this two has not the same enjoyment that I feel because, playing online game is also enjoyed playing and it's free you don't need to spend money, but in gambling when you play there is also enjoyment or excitement but we need to spend money so that we can play game and also we need to be more serious in playing gambling because anytime you can win or lose your money, not like online games it's always free to play.

As you said, it is a good way to past time and they are not doing it seriously since it is just a way to pass their time so I don't think it will be boring for them also because there are a lot of other games they can play especially these days that games are so mainstream. There are some game when you win you will be rewarded and that is the type of game op was referring to and not gaming for free. In some game you will need skills to play them successfully and if you win or compete with the system or players online and win you will get money and that make it to look like gambling or trading.

But sometimes, if we played online games and we can break the next level, that will attract us to continue the game because we want to be the superior in the games online so we can show off to our friends. Although the reward is not money, we could feel satisfied, and that feeling cannot replace with the money.

We can play online games and gambling in our free time, and if we don't want to spend money, then online games will be the right games for you because you only want to feel excited to play the game. Online gambling is benefit to quit the addiction of gambling. Games are suit of every type of gamblers, but it is not giving us thrills and exciting to win money in games. Because there’s a big difference about playing to win by fun and to win with profit lol

It gets harder to get pleasure from something when people grew, i'm betting instead of playing games because playing online games are for kids. In America, American football and basketball are the options but here in Turkey we usually play football and basketball. People love their teams enough to be hooligans, so adult people find the excitement they're looking for in gambling.

Well good for you but I do not think that playing games are for kids and not for grown up. If you think that playing games are for grown up then you are just like admitting that you are really that old and your complexes are weak.

I have known some old friends and until now they can play better than young ones. It is just a matter how you treat and think of yourself.

However, you have also the point that betting is better thab playing games but mind you that not all the times had betting been good for bettting is just like a season. This days betting might be good because of the NBA finals series and other football leauge but right after the finals then betting will not be that good and ine will going to wait for another finals series. It's a matter of how much you are creative and turn your gaming into money making opportunity. Also if you are earning through live streaming games on youtube / facebook, there is no risk of losing in it and you will always earn money form it.
Gambling are for those who are not so skilled enough and they prefer to take risk in order to earn in gambling.
