Last year alts rise a lot. I dont know the average percentage. But when I check coins in the market at year 2013 lots of them dead now (too low ranks). probably new tech coins won them (like peercoin, namecoin, ixcoin etc) Also we are following new ICO s and most of us expecting too much gain from new coins which are not at the market. If our ICO expectations will happen, when they added to market, current market coins will go down. kind of paradox holding altcoin has nothing to give danger to anyone.but the thing is the one who chooses those coin to hold.if he didnt make a best research in every specific alts that will be held in his folio if holder will be careless regarding about choices then thats when danger comes on your funds

Avoid lesser known and not widely-used cryptocurrencies, there is always a possibility of risk. It may later turn to scam or the developer or creator may just use the currency to create a pump and dump coin. Some are only created the coins to earn money and victimizes a lot of would be investors. An altcoin that created with many flaws will not last long and it will eventually cease to exist.

i think holding an old altcoin for this time its a bad investment, but when you buy ICO coin at this moment and hold for 3 month or more its a good invest, try search and studying your ICO coin first before invest.

Holding will always give good returns because already when compared to last year the price of the coin increased a lot. So it is always good to hold the coin in order to make huge profits and at the same time you also need to find potential in the company also.

I don't think holding altcoins is dangerous and sometimes it even gives you a good amount of profit when holding it for long term. Although I'm not saying this in general but so far as I have observed, when it reaches a month or more the value of that certain altcoins mostly or most of the time increases its value but not all the time (also depends on the market).

It is not dangerous but actually more profitable if you check the coins carefully and hold most top ranked coins avoiding any that look scams.
And anyhow.. it would be dangerous or not, it depends on the altcoins that we picks, considering all altcoins have a different futures. If for the ICO, it would be profitable if we really succeeded in knowing/deepening an ICO that can be sure it will be successful.

No, the hold is the best strategy in trading because it can minimize losses and most importantly be able to get greater results when compared to the investment in the short term.

That's why you need to do a research about them carefully especially if it is a large sum of money and that's when we can call it very dangerous. You could be holding bag of either hypedcoins or shitcoins so beware.

Hold or trade also needs a solid knowledge and a little luck, feeling the market. I saw them hold and won big with NEO, ETH. They spend a great deal of money and get the desired profit. Time of August to now. ETH was there at x9 times. Altcoin is also very diverse, give yourself the best option.

Yeah, agree with you on that. Your profit will multiply by 100x if you hodl them for years if you can hit the coin which will pump up later after they hit the exchange. But there is always that possibility that the alts you are holding may become dead, that's the risk of it. But in terms of danger i think it is not dangerous, only a little risky and you should always monitor your alts and act accordingly if there is a serious move in the market.

Holding altcoins is the most exciting part for me anyway, because of the variety of projects out there and the volatility, alts can really work out well, there is always a risk especially if you hold on exchanges as we have seen over recent time a lot of exchanges either getting hacked or shutting down.
Alts are dangerous but also exciting.

I think it's actually very very dangerous...
For your health for example. The need to be in front of CMC all day in stead of working bad influence on your relationships dreaming about cars, boats, moon trips...
I only hold the coins I mined. It is quite profitable.

Holding alts is not dangerous. In fact, as the price of bitcoin increases, the price of alts also increase. Basically, holding alts can help people to earn more money. At this time, holding alts is very profitable.

It isn't dangerous. If your worried about the risk, then hold alts which are well known, have a product and a good team and stick to some of the majors i.e. ADA

A little difficult to answer according to me because there are three types
1.with great project which can be a source of usage in daily life 2.with normal structure but with good team who keeps updating from time to time 3.with no proper white paper run by pump dump groups
In first case you understand the project and invest for long term.time plays a major role and the big players add on gradually,so you can hold .in second case, fluctuations in the price happens based on updates and announcements.be it good or an average coin,it still fluctuates time to time.this is for day traders.hold for day or two is recommended depending on the update.in case three, better stay out of it.you may gain profits once but you will get addicted and will come to zero again.

You are right stating that in 2013 there were several coins which looked very promising for the long term (for example Primecoin, etc.) and then they are basically dead project right now. But always keep in mind crypto-space moves much faster than 'traditional' assets like stocks or commodities. So 'long-term' for cryptocoins could be considered a year or even less.
