Last year alts rise a lot. I dont know the average percentage. But when I check coins in the market at year 2013 lots of them dead now (too low ranks). probably new tech coins won them (like peercoin, namecoin, ixcoin etc)

Also we are following new ICO s and most of us expecting too much gain from new coins which are not at the market. If our ICO expectations will happen, when they added to market, current market coins will go down. kind of paradox  Huh

It actually depends on what you are holding. There are altcoins that are worth holding and there are some that are just good for just a short term hold. Not all altcoins survive after a successful ICO, even ICOs who have gathered a lot of funds die too soon due to poor development and marketing strategy. Just make sure to be updated whether if the team is active.

I think if you take into consideration lst 8 months, answer to this question is very easy.
It is very, very dangerous.
Only this year my alt portfolio lost 80%.
But you not lose it till you not sell it, you just have your money put in some of the coins and you need to remember that till you don't change it into money you don't really lost anything, for me it will take some time for market to recover but some prices that we had in past could be hit again in near time.

yes it is very dangerous to hold altcoins if you are not adapted to crypto market enough. if you think that you can panic and sell it is not good idea to buy and try to hold any altcoin.

If you are confident in a project, holding is the only logical thing to do. Many of these coins will take years to reach full potential.

What are your options? Day trade Crypto? More power to you.

It’s illogical to say “hodling” is bad. That’s what an investment is.

Why would it be dangerous ? Invest , traw , hold and sell to make profits if you are down don’t sell and have patience and wait for the market to go up , if you like trading ( I don’t )  do it . Dangerous is not doing anything and holding fiat

Yes, it's very dangerous. You could see this if you bought an alternative coin several months ago. At the moment, the price has fallen very much.

think the first condition to hold altcoin is that the coin promises to be hold. has great potential in the future. of course that potential can be seen from their project, technology that brought, and large users. make sure you hold the coins that have these specifications so the risk will be reduced and the possibility of profits will be even greater. Everything is dangerous in this world, this is so really  Smiley

By holding the Altcoin very favorable and I didn't find that it was dangerous. I am lucky because my current Altcoin resistant and could turn a profit. I know that investment with long-term would be more beneficial than you do trades for the short term.

It will depend of what kind of Altcoins that you are keeping. It is true that some of these Altcoins are crap and dead by now because their products are not feasible to the masses from the start but there are various of good Altcoins in the Crypto market to choose from therefore it will be always depend on you on how you will choose your Altcoins.

Depends on what altcoin you are holding, it always comes with a risk, this is why we do tons of research first and try to find out if the coins is worth a shot or just another hype coin in the market. If you feel like the coin is worth holding then by all means hold till you reach your target profit otherwise sell it the moment it hits the exchange.

holding a new altcoin for too long is a big risk if what you hold is a coin that doesn't have a solid team in developing their project, you must have the right speculation before holding it in the long run

it's a very safe thing to do, it's just that you have to hold a good coin that you know they won't be discarded by a lot and you will lose everything, I'm sure there are no alts that are excluded when the news hits the market, see the graph and the news for the past few months. Can you say that only BTC is threatened or alts itself when the market starts to collapse. I believe alts and btc have relative connections to balance the charts and values of each other.

I think diversification in the key. Just like any other investment.
Obviously, alts are more riskier than bitcoin but the risk factor will be different for every altcoins. Generally, the topmost altcoins can be considered less risky so majority of portfolio should be in bitcoin and top altcoins.

At this stage of development of crypto-currencies, it is not dangerous, given the fact that everything is now available at a low price ! The main thing is to choose the right portfolio .

I think not dangerous, but that depend what altcoin you will hold. Because there a lot altcoins can be choose, but not all it has good future. You must analyze it at the market and you must have good speculation of it. So the conclusion, no danger but to be patient and wisely. Cryptocurrency market is becoming popular and the chances of increasing price is very huge.

It all depends on the altcoins in which you store your savings. It's like playing roulette, if you don't use system analysis. In any case, the strategy for dolgosrok is quite promising, because over the years, the cryptocurrency is only growing so far.

Yes, it always depends on the cryptocurrency you hold. Sometimes, it can be dangerous. A greedy person, who is waiting all the time his alts will go to the Moon, can lose.
