Is the information in the order book listing (either on the website or through the API) supposed to be delayed or cached? Just now, I had a bid order placed with a price well below the highest ask on the book, but it didn't execute; I noticed a minute later the order book had changed such that the highest ask was now lower, which leads me to think there is some kind of delay / caching in place. If this is correct, it would be nice if this were documented somewhere; it's not so much fun trying to do arbitrage when your order book is out of date.

Same problem here, guess they're having some problems right now, sometimes I even get an empty orderbook. The last days everything worked fine (I'm pretty new to kraken :s).

I have the same problem too, it's in the website as well as the api. This is not supposed to be the case as this makes the orderbook virtually worthless.

An snapshot with timestamps from the api:

Open orders:
[limitPrice=EUR 598.00000, Order [type=BID, tradableAmount=23.98000000, tradableIdentifier=BTC, transactionCurrency=EUR, id=OT6UFS-3TAJ3-I4SXD5, timestamp=Mon Dec 09 02:01:54 CET 2013]]

XBTEUR order book first bid and ask:
[limitPrice=EUR 597.56390, Order [type=ASK, tradableAmount=0.043, tradableIdentifier=BTC, transactionCurrency=EUR, id=, timestamp=Mon Dec 09 01:54:35 CET 2013]
[limitPrice=EUR 595.00000, Order [type=BID, tradableAmount=0.079, tradableIdentifier=BTC, transactionCurrency=EUR, id=, timestamp=Mon Dec 09 01:57:30 CET 2013]

This is not a synchronizing problem with my script as it stays this way for maybe half a minute of updates.

What ive also found out is that the trade execution is working correctly and also updated instantly. You can get an indication find out the real best bid/ask by doing a tiny market order and looking at the execution price.

What are the rate limits for api requests? Would be useful to add these to the help page.

The rate limit is 1 call every 5 seconds.

The recent explosion in our user base has put this on the back burner for now. I'd say an optimistic estimate is that we get enough of a breather sometime in January that we can start working on it again and maybe bring the gateway online sometime in February.

Dargo,  Why won't you just put our xrp withdrawals through manually, like all the other gateways do? It's been days and days.  What's the problem?

Good luck!  A support ticket isn't getting me my xrp back.  I was told they can't get in touch with the person that is supposed to do these sorts of things.  Smells like something fishy is going on.  The other gateways quickly put these sorts of transactions through manually whenever there is a holdup.  Not Kraken.  Not this month.  Maybe they lost liquidity when the btc crash hit, and we get to hold the bag.

cryptojoe - it's taken too long to fix your XRP withdrawal and we're sorry for that. But nobody said we can't get in touch with the person who can fix it. We can get in touch with him just fine, it's just that he hasn't has time to get to it yet. Our whole team is overloaded right now, so many things are taking longer than they should. It's not a permanent situation because we are taking steps to accommodate our accelerated growth. I don't know why you think the BTC crash would cause us to lose liquidity - we just match buyers and sellers like every other exchange and when price crashes we are still just matching buyers and sellers, so it doesn't change anything.

Is this for private calls only? Whats the limit for public calls? I feel kinda spammy to get the order book for few pairs :s

What about the Trading Fee's? Is it going to stay that low, or will it rise to a schedule like MT.GOX (0,6-0,25%)? In the OP you state:

If you’re among the first, you’re among the brave and we appreciate your patience and help in getting us started. For that, we offer you discounted trading fees, and love, of course—at least during the first month

 I want to open an order but when I am about to do it, kraken asks me for a "one time password" (Enter the one-time password required by two-factor authentication.)

 I have read the FAQs and everything but I just don't understand how to get that "one time password", help?

Kraken has one of the best interfaces in my opinion, just needs more volume now. Smiley

 I have read the FAQs and everything but I just don't understand how to get that "one time password", help?

I'm not sure if you've enabled two-factor authentication with Google or another option, but when I log into Kraken and it asks me for that, as I've enabled my Yubikey as the two-factor authentication on my account, I touch my Yubikey and it enters the 'one time password' logging me straight in. If you've not enabled two-factor authentication and you're being prompted for that 'one time password', I'd suggest you log a support ticket with Kraken as unless you've tried just clearing that field and attempting to log in without that field being filled, then it sounds like there's some ambiguity with your account set-up.

Just as a matter of note, if you're interested in getting your own two-factor authentication device for Kraken and other uses, you can buy a Yubikey from www.yubico.com for USD$25+ and while you're at it consider www.lastpass.com which is a password manager for about USD$12 annually that works with your Yubikey for additional security. I got fed up with having to create and remember loads of secure passwords for various bitcoin related sites and exchanges that I figured it's worth it.

Good luck.

Smiley

UPDATE: for those who might consider feeding the Kraken with their cryptos.

My latest response from tech support is that "it looks like your problem has been resolved".  Perhaps it looks that way to them because they cleared my balance when they mistakenly marked a stuck transaction as successfully sent.  All i know is i'm out over 100,000 xrp that they still have not broadcast to the network.  And it's been a full week.
