Thank you for the intresting topic to discuss. In my opinion, the biggest role in understanding Gates' words plays the person he was interviewed by. And it seems that his position expresses the global politics regarding crypto JUST FOR MASSES. Creepy terrorists are here as well  
But of course Bill understands that the main feature of cryptocurrencies is decentralization, not anonimity. Everybody now understands very clear, that there cannot be any anonimity even in 'killed' Monero. So. I think his words are needed to make the wave of crypto not so wild and to calm it down - big money need fair prices if you know what I mean. Cheers

I don't care if Bill Gates said that crypto is bad. How about his windows? microsoft?
Isn't it the gateway used for spreading virus, wrong information, FUD by most of the people that wants chaos in this world?
Gates is just protecting himself against the government so he might say that crypto is bad but he invested on it, we don't know.

That is a hard line  you can tell that he has taken inspiration from Apple but you must not forget that they worked closely for a long time .
I am not sure in what context Bill Gates commented about bitcoin because i have seen his past interviews that he was having a positive thought about the cryptocurrency platform and i am not sure why that changed now.

This kind of activity like using for drugs and other wrong doings is normal to us because it's very common to black markets. There are no difference with the modern technology and the past technology for crimes. maybe he's right when it comes to status of our society, it's very dangerous tho.

I also think that he is right on a way. Anonymity can be good or bad and he is pointing to one of the bad sides.
Soon or later other people will raise concerns about the same problems. Actions will be needed and cypto will have to evolves.

I think that's underestimating bill gates a little bit, he definitely is really smart. It's just that I'd say he's a bit out of touch when it comes to crypto, like a lot of older people.
