Hi everyone. I'm trying to compile blakecoin cgminer to run on Ubuntu 13.11 and I can't get it to work. I've looked at the description in the beginning of this thread, but as I'm a total Linux noob, that was not enough detail. Can someone explain what I need to do, what files I need, and why I do each step, so that maybe I would be able to figure this out. I know that's asking a lot, but information is so spotty it makes it hard to learn. Thanks in advance.

I know that's asking a lot, but information is so spotty it makes it hard to learn. Thanks in advance.

I have not got 13.11 running still on 12.04 but try reading some of this

https://github.com/kR105/cgminer-alt/blob/master/README

http://decryption.wordpress.com/2013/04/22/mining-litecoin-with-cgminer-ubuntu-12-10/

https://debianhelp.wordpress.com/2012/01/10/bitcoin-mining-with-ubuntu-12-04-lts-and-cgminer/

the version of cgminer that works well is by kr105 for the pool
https://github.com/kR105/cgminer-alt

if you get issues with building that on linux then the makefile might be missing some dependency or needs to be tweaked for 13.11?

Thanks. I'll try it out. I have got cgminer (3.7.2) running right now for scrypt coins on Ubunth 13.11 if that makes any difference. Maybe I'm closer than I think.

I'm not so familiar with what the differences are for running blake and scrypt so I've been trying to compile stuff from scratch as per this thead, maybe I only need to add a file or two?

https://github.com/kR105/cgminer

this is the 3.7.2 version and is GPU only but should work on the pool and solo for Blakecoin

you could run a diff on the folders to see the changes as it is the same version  Wink

scrypt cgminer works fine with other coins like litecoin.

11 works good. For some reason when I start with i 13. It slows down a bit. a bit more speed, but less accepts

One question, even though this coin is very innovative, and provides a more speed to network, and fast transactions, why is it not picked up by many people, no new pools, no exchange. I mean why? There are shitloads of bad coins on exchanges, why not this one?

My guess is that it's takes more work to start mine Blake.
I have been mining some from time to time, and it's easyer to just jump on another scrypt/sha256 clone, no need to change settings get new miner software and so on.
And Blake hasn't been hyped alot like pump and dump clones do.
I think this will give the coin a better stabillity and thus long life by not get killed in pump/dump.
This is why I like it and hope it will succeed.

Forgot:
As Blake is intended for real use in BlueDragon's games, it has point besides crypto is fun and stuff like that.
That's what I miss to day, even Bitcoin has to be changed to 'real money' before you can spend it on most stuff.

I am not sure why Undecided

maybe its just down to flooding requests to the support of the various exchanges till they get sick of it and list it  Huh

even if it is shunned from the exchanges I will try my best to bring other services that you can spend your Blakecoin on  Smiley

people pickup the coin that has easymining in the start. So they can dump it when it gets to an exchange. :/ I guess blc wasn't an easymining coin

the idea on the games is that we can use Blakecoin to store to and from the in game credits which is the easiest method, it is also possible to use Blakecoin within the game but the game client is all in c# so would need a bit more work and we are still doing prototypes to see which method works best

definitely will not need to change to 'real money' before you can spend Blakecoin on any system we have planned

while you are playing or learning on one of our systems the other main idea is that you should also be able to mine to get Blakecoin so that you can buy in-game items or take a course and learn some new skills (mostly technical subjects) and maybe even trade it on an exchange one day  Cheesy

I am glad some people are enjoying Blakecoin and understand why it is different, makes the effort worthwhile  Cool

yeah I was thinking more long term(years) when I made Blakecoin and did not like features like huge rewards for early miners, halfing the block reward or slow hashing

Does the zTex 1.15y bitstream work on zTex 1.15x?

I'm pretty sure the 1.15y will NOT work on the 1.15x.

The original bitcoin miner has different bitstreams and firmware for the 1.15y and the 1.15b (of which the 1.15x is a variant), so my guess it that its incompatible. The ztex are very well documented though, so a port would very likely be possible (probably just needs a change to the UCF pinout and recompilation). Not high on my list of priorities at the moment though, sorry. Perhaps sometime in the new year.

So I'm trying to install the version from above, when I run ./autogen.sh, It runs and at the end I get the following message:

------------------------------------------------------------------------
cgminer 3.7.2
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Configuration Options Summary:

  libcurl(GBT+getwork).: Enabled: -L/usr/local/lib -lcurl
curses.TUI...........: NOT FOUND. TUI support DISABLED
OpenCL...............: Detection overrided. GPU mining support DISABLED
configure: error: No mining configured in
will@will-desktop:~/Coins/blakecgminer-3.7$

Is this okay? After this I type "make" and then "sudo make install", both of which sort of run but throw errors, so I'm betting it has something to do with the output above.

wmvatis, you need to type ./autogen.sh --enable-opencl its not enabled by default. or if that doesnt work then it means you dont have the amd app sdk installed.

I finally got cgminer 3.7.2 from kr105 to compile on linux with gpu mining enabled, however, it does not seem to be submitting the shares generated to the pool. my LW (local work generated) number increases but Accepted, Rejected, HW errors, and WU all are 0. any ideas? thanks
