On exchanges you can buy some for 0.000009 but only few coins if you're lucky. If you want to buy large chunk of coins price i around 0.00001 - 0.000014

I just built the DEM wallet from source on Ubuntu 14.04LTS 64bit desktop OS. I noticed that throughout the synchronizing, I only had one network connection, and still, after synchronizing and a couple reboots, I still only connect to one network node.

Is this how it is, or is there a fix for this

No, Just the DEM wallet. On the same computer, I have 3 other wallets, all of them are running as full nodes with plenty of incoming and outgoing connections.

I can always try to add nodes to the .conf  ... where can I find a list of active DEM nodes?

I believe that this is how it works when synchronizing. Once you have the full block chain, I would then expect to get more peers connected after a while.

thanks....

I'll add some of those nodes when I get done re-installing the OS and wallets.... things were getting too mashed up from trying all sorts of things installing wallets, trying to solo mine PPC, building a couple different pools to try and get solo mining on PPC to work ... so, I just backed up the ./*coin* folders which contained the wallet.dat  and the whole blockchain for the coins ... then I nuked the system.... actually I'm switching platforms also, going from a SFF desktop to a rackmount Dell server.
