Are other coins susceptible to this kind of mining pool attack or was there something unique with Raven that allowed it?

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Supernova uses MPOS and not YIIMP so that's probably why.

The hack was only to the pools? Or maybe it was a 51% attack?

Not at all I think it was more like a vulnerability on the pools yiimp code and it has nothing to do with Ravencoin's.

http://rvn.elitehash.net wasn't affected by this hack either. This is one of the reasons I wanted to write my own pool and only use yiimp as the administrative backend.

I'm currently developing an experimental social AI platform

I can't open a reddit link from the office but all I know is that for a long time now their rewards are within the estimates of calculators... Unlike some auto-trading Yiimp-style pools I've tried...
I'm very glad that RVN exists and it didn't have a premine, thanks to that I have a coin I can mine and hold 50%-75% without being robbed by auto-exchangers.

Ravenminer.com is on some shady shit. Beware.

http://www.ravenminer.com/?address=RTam4qSTrdWgYRSEdXKdV5Ekjq8qDB5EwN

I had nearly 38 coins in my account before the payout but they only sent me 26. No trace of 12 ravens.

See the line going down from 38 to 26 and then 0 but only 1 transaction?

This needs an explanation.

Probably yes. I checked the blocks history and the pool seem to had a lot of orphans around the time you sow this fall and many hours before that. This however doesn't seem to be an issue with the network but with their pool, my pool had just 1 orphan in this period.

It's been a Block Party at Virtopia.

Charlie's new stratum update has been luckier than predicted (coins earned) by a good 25-33% over the week it's been open.
And it isn't a Yimp pool, so you won't get your coins stolen.

and missing payments, for the last 4 or 5 hrs , seems like they are having some issues, I have been hoping they would get it together
since the (Hack) and I took the loss like everyone else, I see on discord other Miners are having problems too,

I had 228 unpaid on ravenminer.com of that, they paid 153.  Better than losing it all as part of the hack.

ALL RAVEN MINING POOLS WERE HACKED LAST NIGHT
 QUote from ravenminer discord:
There was a wide-scale hack on RVN pool wallets. This has affected many Ravencoin pools. Some of your pending balance on Ravenminer and other pools are now in the possession of the Hacker(s). It's best to assume they are irretreivable (gone for good). Any details beyond this are probably just guesswork

These are the current most repeated questions questions and answers.
Who dunnit?- Yet to be determined
Where's my RVN?- Stolen, things that are stolen are no longer yours.
ravenminer.com should pay me back!- You have been earning more than you should because there is no pool fee here. If you picked another pool at random you would likely still be at a loss.
Should I continue to mine with this pool?- That's your decision. Right now the pool is working. @birdman has quickly applied a temporary fix until the nature of the attack can be determined. It's advisable to set failover pool(s) so you can continue to mine in case this pool has to go down for a time.
Russians! Yes, that's a term for people from a specific a country, good job.
Yeah but when will i get my coins? I havent gotten a payout in x hours!- From this point your earnings are safe. Any balance before that was pending is likely gone for good

Look folks, as soon as concrete answers are available it will be blasted through all the channels you guys use. You won't have a choice but to hear about it. Go to the park or talk to a stranger. Learn how to knit, whatever. Asking the same questions over and over won't help anything, in fact it will only DELAY solutions

Not ALL ...

Our one (CWI Pyroxene (theMINE)) has been testing and is solid so far ... we just haven't publicized nor pushed to get any other miners for it only because it is still in alpha testing.

We are NOT a yiimp based pool, and we have our own platform that we work from and have been building for sometime now., unlike 99.7% of the pools out there to date who work off a 'standard' system base and actually build a lot of these pools from YouTube videos, and usually Yiimp based pools at that.

Don't take that as being 'Yiimp is crap'. It isn't. It is a damned good non-reg pool that is maintained by a great developer (tpruvot), but has it's shortcomings, just like any other pool system. OUR job as operators of such pools is to maximize the security and maintain a solid platform for the mining to continue as best as we can. There will always be issues, but the service behind the pool when issues strike is always the telling point of a good pool operator. Even if the pool operator can't get your coins back, decisive action to fix the pool issue is always a good sign of a good pool operator.

We have a few miners on there currently to continue testing our system and infrastructure, and if you wish to help, that would be great. We are NOT in the business of promoting the hell out of our platform to take funds from anyone. We ARE in the business of providing as best a quality service as we can, and because the majority of the backend is an internal system, we fix our own issues as best we can also.

As for the problems - ALL systems (yes including ours) have teething problems and issues that need to be fixed and patched. Hacks are something that cannot be fully covered unless a hack is uncovered first. Hackers will always look for holes in the security and the systems in place, so there will always be someone that gets through. Detecting them as fast as we can is the best form of security, and patching the security hole as soon as possible after it is found out is the best policy. Stolen funds? Unfortunately for most who have lost funds elsewhere, there is no way of getting them back. Accept the losses and seek legal counsel if you have a HUGE amount involved in it.

We will continue working on our systems, and continue it whether we are in the background or not.

Never say ALL unless ALL is actually the case. In this case, it is not.
