I think the mining process of Protoshares isnt fair, because I was one of the first miner and only got 3 blocks in that time. Who the f... has minted all the coins in the first days ?

I have struggled to be optimistic, which I am by nature.  But I too have some reservations.  I launched a descent sized cluster but found zero blocks in the first moment of launch; and didn't get reward until I joined a pool. Yet some mined thousands of PTS in the first few days?  I guess they were lucky...?  I have now turned my miners off of this one.  Sorry.

jh00 is probably working on it.

I asked jh00 if the PTS pool was going to have an issue with XPM pool, he assured me it didn't. Plus all the updates on the site is making it also have issues too. I ended up mining at beeeeer PTS pool or I might go back to solo mining. I like the PTS miner for Ypool that consumes only 512mb on memory per core and is 64-bit.

There seems to be a high latency in this P2P network and despite the target of five minutes, the blocks were being found in seconds.  The block height is reportedly 12,829 which means we have gone a month and a half worth of blocks in a week.  Many miners are missing out due to latency issues.  From where I am the client just cannot keep up.    Sad

it looks like an accident, i wouldn't specifically call an insta-mine on this one as the guys even forked it to increase difficulty , with the growing pains of a new algorithm, i'm not sure that the Invivtus crew thought that the popularity would be this high , but its seems to have captured the imagination of people in that viral why , that sometimes occurs, that critical mass of interest, you could say.

Or why would somone get way over 50% of the pool shares?

I use the latest version of ProtoShares client.
However, very often the client "Freezes".
I check him every hour and when I see that 1 hour "working" on the same block - restart him and it turns out that he needs to be synchronized to make up the missed time. This is very annoying, is there any solution to this problem?

I had the same problem when I was solo mining (though way less often), I recomand using a pool (with a stand alone miner).

Pools I can recomand:

Nr 1: http://ypool.net (I recommend this one)
Nr 2:  http://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=236.0
nr 3: http://54.238.185.113/blocks
