How does that work?

Our blockchain is a fork of Steem based on a delegated proof of stake blockchain (similar to EOS and Bitshares, etc).  (Delegated Proof of Stake).  In this model instead of miners like on Ethereum and Bitcoin we have witnesses and proof of stake consensus. The new rewards are daily put into a reward pool that is then split as follows: 75% goes to the reward pool to reward users on the platform, 15% goes to holders of smoke and 10% goes to the miners.
This model has worked great for Steem as users have to Power Up their coins in order to vote on where the daily rewards go as well as vote on who should be the block producers.  This creates an environment whereby anyone that powers up has stake in the network and can influence where and how new coins are distributed via voting on content.   Long term holders also get issued 15% APR in SMOKE Power if they have vested Smoke.  Vested SMOKE (Smoke Power) cannot be sent or moved, only used to vote.

This particular technology that Smoke runs on allows for many initiatives that will change the world. Everyone lives in an attention based world so it only makes sense that everyone should be compensated for their attention. For example, the reply I'm writing takes time, time is money and I should be able to have the ability to be compensated for it. The chains that run on this technology are not only producing the most transactions per day, faster than any others, but are the only chains that utilize the very principles blockchain was founded on, to their fullest potential.

the problem with potcoin is it doesnt scale or offer people the ability to reward eachother easily on chain with crypto.  Smoke can do that right now.  They are also being featured in multiple mary jane based media platforms.

This is a really good thing... So many projects sell an "idea" and raise a bunch of funds through an ICO but never deliver. This is what has been giving ICOs a bad name. Having a working blockchain and at least a prototype of what you're going to do is far more convincing to me that the ICO is a good investment than any fancy landing page and white paper could ever be. I wish more projects would work like this. Really helps lend credibility to the crypto space.

The testnet platform is built for testing purposes only and as an avenue for the development team and community to iron out any issues and get accustomed with making the most of the Smoke.io product before launch.

It will also allow you to test how content and curation rewards work so you can practice earning SMOKE and get a better understanding of how to earn real SMOKE when the SMOKE mainnet launches.
