It's always better to not trust anybody in principle. It's easy, you must just behave like in real live and not trust the first one you see.

Cheers and liberty!

Hey I just heard about a guy named Pirate.  Can I trust him with all my bitcoins?  Cheesy  Cheesy
(BTW - Why would anyone trust a guy named "Pirate"?  I think I'll start a new account named "Thief" and create a great new investment opportunity...)

Actually most of my coins are stored in a paper wallet - that is stored in a bank safety deposit box. That wallet was generated on a fresh-install computer that has never been connected to the 'net.   Not only am I concerned about someone stealing my coins, but what if I'm killed by a falling meteor?  I want my family to be able to find and spend the coins.

I think that basic level for trust should be 0, and only go up from there by positive references that you can trust.

I think it's better not to trust anybody on internet unless you know he/she personally.

Here is how I see it. Bitcoins = Cash in a land with 'no government' or regulations. Only trust someone to the same degree you would give them the equivilent amount of money in your local currency.

Most people wouldn't  hand over $500 to a stranger, so why trust them with 50BTC?

Honestly, though, it's a good idea to approach each situation with an open heart and mind. I believe that people tend to be good, and we should treat them as though their intentions are sound. WHILE PROTECTING YOURSELF, it must be said. Don't be stupid, but don't assume that everyone is out to get you either.

Good points, i think the only people you should trust are ones that are not afraid to reveal their identity and info about themselves.

I trust you enough to read your post.
I also trust you enough to spend 10 seconds on a reply.

I'd also loan you a beer but that's just me.  Smiley

You have to be careful and do your research.  Even then, it pays to not put all your eggs in one basket (no matter how good the interest rate that basket is offering)!

Take a look at what is being offered and think is it realistic.  If the proposal doesnt sound realistic it probably isnt.

I don't deal with people/companies who dont have at least decent reputation/reviews. And so should everyone else, doh.
