Bitcoin is dominating now for a reason and that is because altcoins are dependent on it. Their prices all depends on it, if bitcoin rise, they rise, if it fall, they fall. I believe if this dependency is overcome, then there is a chance for other coins to take the lead. Developers of altcoins are working to plug the gap and deficiencies bitcoin have, the onky thing stopping them from overtaking bitcoin is the dependency. And to be honest, i don't see that happening anytime soon,so as it is, bitcoin will still dominate for a very long time

Bitcoin is the original decentralized cryptocurrency. I think, BTC will take control. Altcoins were created as an alternative.

followed by the second altcoin : ethereum. so, the answer is bitcoin is still leading the market now.

At the boom times it may be possible that some other alt coins appreciate in price greater than bitcoin but it is also true that at the time of price fall; the fall in prices of alt coins is always more than bitcoin.

This is an interesting opinion that I doubt many people on this forum share. Altcoins generally are just a bigger market, but for most part, bitcoin is the bridge between them. Generally, if you want to buy altcoins, you have to buy bitcoin and then use that bitcoin to purchase the alts. It's hard to find places to buy altcoins directly. I believe this is what makes Bitcoin and Ethereum in particular so large in terms of all of the other altcoins. As long as the system of having to purchase altcoins using bitcoin/eth exists, it is very unlikely that the altcoins will surpass bitcoin, as there will be people putting as much money into BTC as they do alts.

Indeed this is a trick way by many of those exchanges to gain more profit from the cost of this trade transaction, with or without us being aware.
I do realize that it is very difficult to find a direct pair from USDT/Altcoin (ERC20), while in most market are generally available for trading pair BTC/Altcoin (ERC20) or ETH/Altcoin (ERC20), these certainly makes the limit that altcoin price will not be able to pass through Bitcoin because the daily volume of Bitcoin is certainly the highest among from other of these trades.

Looks like brainwashing, but the mindset of people is already on bitcoin so bitcoin will continue to dominate the crypto market even though the current condition of investors is turning to altcoin, as whales are in control of the price movement of crypto in the market.
