Most of altcoins' prices are generally affected by a change in bitcoin's price. That's a fact since all are paired with bitcoin in exchanges. Yes, The only dependent of all cryptocurrencies is Bitcoin. All cryptocurrency's values and prices depended on the price of Bitcoin. They depended on bitcoin because it is the only cryptocurrency that has the ability to be converted into money and it is the only basis of all cryptocurrencies and altcoins in the internet. It is because bitcoin is the king and it is the setter of the trend because that is where the altcoin or other type of cryptocurrency are basing on their demand for the coin, if the price of bitcoin goes down then they know what to do and that is to unload altcoins because they know that it will become worse if the dump or panic selling in bitcoin gets worse.

I think As long as the system has to buy altcoin using bitcoin / eth, it is very unlikely altcoin will go beyond bitcoin, because there will be people who put as much money into BTC as they do.

I'm almost 100% sure that it's not bitcoin. The only reason why it is in the first place, is that it was the first of the napolar crypto currency. However, it has a lot of technical problems, which in my opinion will not allow it to become a global crypto currency, which people will use massively. yes I agree considering that most of the altcoins today are dependent on the movement of bitcoin because since i started to invest in cryptocurrency i observed that once bitcoin market is falling some popular altcoins are falling too.
