From Wiki:

Do I have to leave the client open in order to mine coins?
No.  You have to leave your account "unlocked" in order for your address to be active, but you do not have to leave your browser window open.

What "unlocked" means? Can i close browser and terminal?

Close the browser without clicking the lock icon to lock your account. This leaves it unlocked. The terminal needs to stay open, this is your "client".

can someone update the wiki to make this clearer

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

It looks like a higher percentage of the network is forging and securing the blockchain.  The Nxt block explorer shows the "Avg. Target" for the day is 88.55%.  Yesterday, it was above 1000%.

What is the mathematical function to figure out the percentage of stake forging?

Maybe someone who knows all these answers can do a detailed wiki page on this page of the blockexplorer

Ideally each section of each page of the block explorer will be explained in the wiki.  Same for the client.  There are TONS of stuff on the client that im sure most people have a clue of.

(hint hint) maybe a stakeholder could put up a bounty for these items in the stakeholder bounty section at nextcoin.org?

Is there a way for soft to detect botnet and then require CAPTCHA?

Yes, if everybody runs the same soft, but for alt-clients this won't work.

...HOST_WEIGHT - "weight" of the host, u can have a lot of hosts marked with the same account, weight defines what part of the balance will be used (weight/Sum_of_all_weights). If u have only 1 node then it will use 100% of the balance

can you expound on this section?  I dont quite get the (weight/Sum_of_all_weights) thing, it seems a bit circular.
If we only had 1 running client, and wanted to use its full balance, would we use 100 for the weight field?

Im going to make a sticky post in the nextcoin.org with more details on how to use this feature.

If u run only 1 node then u can set any weight u wish. If u run several nodes then ur balance will be distributed among them according to their weights.

Example:
Node #1 weight = 5
Node #2 weight = 20

Total weight is 5 + 20 = 25, thus
Node #1 gets 5 / 25 = 20% of ur balance and node #2 gets 20 / 25 = 80%.

nxt.airdns.org got stuck with the above NullPointerException which prevented the blockchain from loading. Copying over the .bak files didn't help, had to get all .nxt files from another machine.

I will look at it, thx.

What does this project need technically?

More developers. I hope we'll get some after the source code is open, but advanced features r still supposed to be closed source for some period of time. If we get more interface-side developers, my team can focus solely on core functions, this will bring advanced features (decentralized DNS, voting system) to the market much faster.

1 more thing, say I do use the hallmark, and then my IP address changes.  Will I see any particular behavior on the client when I begin to use a hallmark that doesnt checksum?

(just looking for some way to be notified or to realize that my IP changed and that I need to update the hallmark)

% = 100 / AverageBaseTarget, but ur 88.55% is not "average" enough.

Ur node will be blacklisted and noone will connect to u, in future versions ur node requests will be rejected.

so basically whenever I see my active peers list empty out, that would mean its time to redo my hallmark?

My node works more stable with enabled hallmark protection. Hey, stakeholders, only 10% marked their nodes. R u interested in success of Nxt?
They wait to dump their coins @Cryptsy  Sad

It's rather good than bad. More they dump, more new Nxters we will get.
My issue here is that it seems it is the only thing they care for!
It is a free market, let the price discovery run on it's own  Smiley

But they don't care about Nxt - they don't even care in what you just said, that dumping will help the network. They just want to sell when they can en masse..
No, some of them also care about spamming the thread by saying this is excellent or that is terrific while keeping a Canadian singer DG lady photo at their logo, but not a hand of help or a single dime of donation.. amazing!

Sorry klee for the delay, dude I still have problem with the client, will send you 200K to let you continue the giveaway ASAP.
Just for the public to know, I already received 400K from Pouncer, 400K from Neer.gh and 97K from klee, which I keep to supply the posted bounties (video-article-whitepaper) and the giveaway (which shall run until the end of 2013). Neer.gh promised me to donate 600K more to secure the source for paying the bounty awards.

I have an idea: perhaps we can invite stake-holders to offer to the community their interest to fund some partnership projects. For example let's say I post a proposal in the bounty thread offering 3M Nxt to anyone who can create or bring a poker platform running in Nxt, so he/she and I may become partners and start a business together and share the whole ownership and future profits at let's say X% and Y% profit (it was just an example, I am not really proposing this personally), or a digital good shop. This has a lot of benefits, enlarging Nxt marketplace and popularizing it, distributing the initial investment fund into that economy and finally benefiting the stake-holders more and last longer than with a raw sell-dumping at this or that target price. This will also creates jobs-funds for interested developers to use their muscles into building the blocks.
What do you think?

I am already working on this..I talked to come-from-beyond a little about it..right now I am in the planning stages. Real p2p decentralized poker platform funded by stake holder and it pays dividend to its stake holders..Based on my plans I should have the user interface functioning and out within a couple of weeks and full application in 8 weeks. Also worth noting that although it would be a primary nxt application, you would also be able to fund your account with bitcoin and two of the top alternative tokens.

"scum3.bounceme.net" is unable to handle that much traffic. 3 my test nodes, situated in different countries, stuck during blockchain downloading from it.

There is nothing wrong with centralized, It would be better if you could use the nxt DNS systems..are you going to be waiting for this or are you using the plain legacy "Govdns". If you used nxt dns the system would only be vulnerable to scaling problems, third party attackers ddosing or hacking attempts..

Come-from-beyond In p2p application especially in my poker app, how can we transfer the security from nxt to be used in a p2p application to remove 51% attack capabilities as an added protection? I am interested in this because I am devising global accounting schemes confirmed and verified by participators in the p2p poker app. It would be nice to get your input in this.
