Unless there is some serious dumping by top-tier genesis block foundersto keep prices down, the amount in wide circulation is going to get choked off at a very small percentage of the total because it's just to expensive to buy.
Don't worry about distribution. In January real (10-100x bigger) DDoS and other types of attacks will start when hackers read the source code, many stakeholders will lose some or all faith and will sell a lot of their coins. Exactly. And in so doing, lose a lot of money they invested at an exchange early on, while only releasing the small proportion of coins that were sold to them earlier by initial founders. This is my definition of "a bumpy ride". Meanwhile, the founders have no financial incentive to sell during a price decline like the one you describe. They can "afford" to ride NXT all the way back down to zero at an exchange and lose at most 1 BTC in real money out of pocket while waiting out any price decline. They have effectively zero risk here no matter what happens. Unless they now think of themselves as becoming rich in the last 90 days, and a need to get their new-found but unrealized wealth out of the market while they still can.... For them, "that's a bumpy ride", too.... There will be panic sell, because the price will go back to December lows, closer to 0, due to constant huge DDoS and other attacks. Many stakeholders will panic sell for fear to lose all and will try to make at least part of their financial dreams to come true by trying to sell before others. When price gets to close to 0 again, that's when real distribution starts. We haven't seen nothing yet. My prediction anyway, take it with a grain of salt

We have deployed a beta test NXT gateway, this is a precursor to our trade platform that builds on top of ripple's distributed ledger. You can make a ripple acct in two minutes and deposit and withdrawal is automated https://peercover.com/#/simpleGatewayFeedback appreciated James U posted it in a wrong place. Be ready for a DDoS attack now.

@Dervish: It doesn't matter whether you split the nxt coins onto serveral accounts. The overall chance to forge a block doesn't change by doing that.

Network seems to be holding up fine since last release. Good job devs.
I think we need to take it to the next level with a professional website and high-quality informational video.
Anyone got a bounty for this? I know a professional graphics designer. He can blow everything you've got out of the water, but he ain't cheep. He can easily do stuff on the quality level of the official bitcoin videos.
PM me if you want to arrange this.

Peercover has many features mostly revolving around ripple Recently btc/ltc gateway was released and nxt support was just added Still beta test, but the idea is to get into the ripple distributed ledger for trading That will be more resistant to attacks than centralized xchange
Another benefit is that once inside ripple you can also trade usd, cny, etc
With the only nxt xchange constantly being swamped by ddos, it makes sense to try distributed xchange

Yes, we all heard about that. But first player has better chance. Contradiction.

I'll pay a lot of NXT if this actress will be starring in the video:

Can you provide step by step on how to use it? We could use a secondary exchange (for when dgex is down). Of course, this is only until the decentralised exchange is up.

gbeirn,
I setup about 16 to 25 servers into a single cluster. Then I can type a single command, they all do it. You can also drill down to each single server.
Really, after more than 5, you have to get cssh. Trust me on this. On the Mac csshX is even better, but same core functionality
James

Well dang. The dropbox link for nxtfiles.zip seems to be down, and I'm getting stuck with a serverconnector error when trying to run my start.bat file, similar to this.
2013-12-03 21:35:22.345:INFO:oejs.ServerConnector:main: Started ServerConnector@ 1384f2{HTTP/1.1}{0.0.0.0:7875}
Tried deleting my blocks.nxt file like some other people recommended, but didn't work. Any ideas how I can get the client running?
