No beta [snip]
The Nxt detractors really need to coordinate their talking points -- "It's still in alpha, client is half-baked, it's missing promised features, not listed on major exchange..." Which is it? did you see what bitcoin looked when it was 1+ months old? oh yeah bitcoin is still in beta too. Don't compare NXT and BTC, Btc is not pre-mining. At least btc is not pre-mining serious. You can compare eMu, EMu has a client, but beta is testing, and not pre-sale yet. Neither is NXT seriously. Sorry you missed the boat buddy. Hi, I am interested in Nxt and ready to invest some money in it. But first can you answer this one question for me, what is scarce about Nxt? With Bitcoin, if someone copies and pastes the source code, its not the same because nobody can just copy and paste the mining network. Please explain what prevents somebody from copying and pasting the Nxt source to make Nxt1, Nxt2, Nxt3, Nxt4 …. ?? As i understand it, the plan to combat this is to always have one feature closed source. So whenever a new feature is added, the previous closed source feature is made open source and the cycle repeats. this is the best explanation I have heard so far. Thanks for being knowledgeable. Also thanks for telling me not to dump my life savings although I was just kidding. I am particularly interested in the file sharing capabilities of Nxt. Does anyone know anything about this? edit: also, where's the best place to buy Nxt? You are welcome. File sharing would never be efficient over a blockchain. Blockchains are for arriving at consensus. They are for making sure that everyone is "on the same page". If you want to share files BitTorrent is amazing . https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345336https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=399205 But it could be used for the .torrent files, which would bridge the networks in a sense. The messaging feature could be useful in this sense as well. Maybe someone could integrate bittorrent functionality into their client then we'd have a truly decentralized torrenting system I am offering 10k Nxt as a bounty for this.

This could actually be a good idea. Although it seems like this is something a service provider should do on a parallel chain to prevent bloat.

I am offering 10k Nxt as a bounty for this. This can be easily done with Alias System as a magnet link.

I am offering 10k Nxt as a bounty for this. This can be easily done with Alias System as a magnet link. So the "uploader" has to pay for it (registering alias). We could create a webpage where a .torrent file can be uploaded. An alias is being registered with the magnet link. Users get 10 Nxt (or whatever number) for registering, so they can try it, and upload a few files for free. Then they could purchase additional packages of Nxt. Anyone interested in this project? I am not a good develoepr, but can make a homepage, do the marketing and sales stuff.

Isn't a planned feature to allow data storage in the blockchain?
Data storage will be provided by Service Providers. Only index data will be stored in the blockchain.

Actually if you use a magnet link, there is no need for an alias. This would be only important if you wanted to integrate it into the client as if you are having a homapge for torrents, you just can set up a magnet link to the torrent itself, instead of the alias which is then having the magnet link. Am I correct?

Is there a convention/rule for broadcasting AMs, or generally marking them as available to all accounts? E.g. send to self, send to genesis account, send to account '0'?

NOT TO BURST EVERYONE'S BUBBLE….
but Nxt is completely 100% susceptible to the 51% attack
its the 51% developer attack.
If someone gets 51% of the development talent, gets old source code etc, Nxt is completely destroyed by….
Nxt1 Nxt2 Nxt3 Nxt4 Nxt5 …… Nxt 1000000
has anyone thought of this??

Hm, not sure if I understand your question: you could have an alias point to a magnet link or you could send a message containing a magnet link. client software or browser plugin will then have to do the necessary to handle (download) the file behind it

Hm, not sure if I understand your question: you could have an alias point to a magnet link or you could send a message containing a magnet link. client software or browser plugin will then have to do the necessary to handle (download) the file behind it AFAIK the magnet link is a hash code that directly opens the default torrent client on you machine and starts downloading the file. There is no need for the alias if you are having a webpage. The user clicks on the link "Pretty Woman" (which is a magnet link) and the default torrent client is opened up, no need for the alias. Or do I miss something?

Choose send to self, or send to genesis account. Send to "0" is an incorrect way.
