Few guys had incorrect timezones set. Maybe due to inconsistency in daylight-saving between countries, some countries use it, some don't.

Maybe you haven't done much timezone work (I have done extensive work with it).

A timezone and its DST offset is *irrelevant* when you are using UTC (they are only applicable to "local time").

I hope your not saying that Nxt is using "local time" for the timestamps.

The majority of un-claimed coins should be kept in tact for now and move to a multi-signature account later on. Unclaimed-coins belong to the community and there is no rush to spend right now. We don't want to go around begging donors when we have some real important works needed to be done in the future.

Nxt protocol doesn't have multisigs yet.

Then BCNext or you have to keep it for now until we develop multisigs. There shouldn't be any new arbitrary spending at the moment when everything is up in the air and everyone has all kind of opinions.  As I said earlier, there is no rush to new spending now. I am of the opinion to froze the fund until we have 1. voting system in place; 2. multisig acounts.

The second best option is to send everything back to the genesis. Any new spending other than previously announced are bad. We can do a whole lot of things more with 10 milllion NXT when 1 nxt=1 usd. Using that common pool of fund now is like selling NXT too cheap, imho .

So Froze the acount until we have 1. voting system in place; 2. multisig acounts.

In that case why are you telling people to change/adjust their timezone?

The only thing they need to be doing is making sure their UTC time is correct.

Take development of the Linux kernel for example.  Linus Torvalds is in charge, there is no voting, and the project is thriving.  Bram Cohen was in charge of the bittorrent protocol and that didn't hurt its decentralizedness.  Which successful software projects put everything to a vote?

This is why BCNext reserves 3M for development, but he can't handle the rest of the coins.

PS: We can always send the coin to the genesis account if we don't come to a conclusion.

Within a month, client software will be ready, large scale marketing will require some time. If there was a marketing budget, better plans could be made as to how to allocate it. I think most all agree that NXT needs some significant increase in the number of NXT users. This requires marketing and sales. With user friendly clients, we can go to the mass market.

The first question is how much to allocate to marketing. Once we know this, we can work to allocate to the different marketing programs. I strongly believe in pay for performance marketing. A website nobody goes to has little value, even if it has a lot of good info. A confusing badly made website, still has value if it brings in NXT'ers.

We define a performance metric for marketing. We set a NXT value to that. We roll out massive pay for performance marketing plan. 100 BTC worth of pay for performance marketing is possible. That would make it the largest ever and become news worthy in and of itself.

700K-800K is still waiting to be paid to client developers. But idea to froze account is a good one.

PS: By April u should find guys who will handle the funds or they'll be sent to the genesis account.

Ripple was featured on top TV show: https://xrptalk.org/topic/949-ripple-debuts-on-%E2%80%9Ctv%E2%80%99s-no-1-new-show%E2%80%9D-%E2%80%93-nbc%E2%80%99s-the-blacklist/

2Kewl4Skewl has ripplegiveaway.com which is ripple faucet. Peercover supports NXT within ripple. Why not fund ripple NXT faucet? 50K NXT would get a lot of new exposure to people who are already in very similar demographic.

James

Why not? Create a poll.

Pin, can you create a poll for this? Also one for Marketing budget

No. My current time is 17:30 in UTC+3 timezone. I could set the timezone to UTC+2 keeping my current time 17:30. In this case my blocks/transactions will have timestamp shifted by 1 hour to the future.

Changing your "timezone" does not "change the UTC time" (the UTC time remains identical) so what are you talking about?

Talking about "local time" will only confuse people - why not just get the client to print the UTC time when it starts up so you can easily tell?

I disagree. If u don't change time but do change timezone, then ur UTC time is changed.

CFB: Would it make sense to make a kind of funding committee? To think about which kind of investments make sense and in which projects the money will go in? Yes, this is somehow centralized, but I guess it would help more to make just “decisions by the community” what could be just the loudest guys in Bitcoinkalk.

salsacz has been working on marketing for sometimes without pay. She and I are working on our next promotional campaign but we are funded under a donor's bounty. I suggest you to do the same- find a donor for your marketing effort.

There shouldn't be any new spending category under the common fund until we have voting system and multi-signature acc in place, imho.

aright, or at least a funding committee is in place.

No it isn't - seems to me you don't understand the difference between UTC time and a local timezone (hint UTC has nothing to do with a timezone - that's why it is called UTC).
