Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

How about something like this:
2. Giveaway 500 NXT to 500 people on forums- 250k
There will never be a giveaway for free. Only for people who will share our infographics/videos. We still do not have all information needed to create those infographics, but I am gathering them in the NxtMyths articles.

I propose that we use some of the unclaimed coins for a big give-away action. Hand out big fistfuls of NXT to the people who have been supporting NXT over the last couple of months (maybe by weighting this thread contribution, to include me, of course) and then carry on with random give-aways to new Nxt'ers.

And one big give-away to a public figure/charity. All give aways will bring people in, rewarding the established community will give us a warm fuzzy feeling, and a big public figure/charity give away will get lots of coverage in mainstream news media without Nxt having to pay for advertising.

Let me again bring up the idea of using global computing, like Ripple does.

Yeah OP did you have vanity address on all 3?
something about vanity coding a 64 char account # when you could just buy an alias makes me say WTF
No, that is the thing, i only used the vanity generator for 1 address,
Do you know where you downloaded the vanity from? Have you still got those downloaded files?

From the links in the forum. I still have both java files. Where can i upload those, so noone, uses them?

Post the sha256 sum of each file. I am pretty sure they are clean and weren't the issue.

i wrote something similar in the nextcoin community a month ago

but can you understand the initial investors who do not contribute to the community? I mean guys like klee and one or two other big investors are really giving away bounties and stuff like that - but some are just inactive?

I would say if every early investor would be active as for example klee regarding giveaways etc this project would already be twice as big as peercoin...

Or is there any coordinated behaviour between the initial investors and developers?

We already have a treasurer - Come-from-beyond.

Oh, btw, let's count pending expenses:

100k - waiting for minusbalancer
100k - waiting for BaiMangal
100k - bounty for JS implementation of NRS crypto algo
100k - total reward for AM contest
100k - total reward for fiat gateways based on Asset Exchange
XXX - bounty for 1st SMS-to-NXT gateway

Did I miss anything?

These are all viable projects and should be funded as long as we have the community's consensus.  Now exercise your right to be a Nxter and go to vote here

yeah, cos writing any server software in C++ gives so much joy...

yeah, cos it's all about your joy, right?

Screw users, they can install JRE if they want to use our 1337 coin.

Actually writing server software in C is quite fun. Debugging threading is tricky but with right tools it again is fun.
Users indeed should not instal JVM. But we are getting there, many people are working on clients already.
I got two Qt books today, so as soon there is API in C or C++ I too will start on multiplatform client.

So far no one with Qt knowledge has applied. Anyone?

Hmm,looks like it is? :-)

Google translation:

Quote
Today, the line for a famous cottage currency trading platform of the new currency NextCoin, and put its name in Chinese is called "future currency." Unexpectedly, in addition to the NXT currency called the future, there is the English name FutureCoin future currency, and has a domestic line on the new platform. Said to the children to see a bit after the "future money", a big wave white flock this platform, called FUC buying from this future currency, the price quickly pulled from 0.05 0.48 soared nearly tenfold .

Well, I faced a moral dilemma and would like to ask for an advice...

FrictionlessCoin created a thread dedicated to NEX (descendant of NXT). I had a lot of fun reading that thread but I suspect some people took NEX seriously. The problem is that if FC waits till April when Nxt source code becomes completely open, he still won't be able to generate a valid genesis block, coz Nxt uses a crypto algo modified by BCNext (this is why we collected 10 BTC for the audit). I support all cryptocurrencies and would like to help him to create a new genesis block, competition is good for the whole crypto-community. But this could look not very good to guys who own NXTs...

What would u do?

Noone minds I suppose?

Could someone talk about the details how this should work, please? How to securely do this without the risk of someone getting all 3 password pieces?

Beyoncé?

No idea. Some kind of voodoo magic I suppose.

 Shocked

And now the serious answer please.

It is not working for security reason.

Now I have a vote that need your attention https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=423241.0

The poll doesn't make much sense. Committee or no committee we need to decide who is holding funds first. None of poll options answers that.

I've seen this question before. It's normal and understandable.
My own answer to it is that you can't force them to contribute, frustrating as it is.
Yes, it hurts Nxt, but it's water under the bridge now.

As far as I know there is no big coordinated initiative. But then again, some may be giving out stuff behind the scenes. I got 3500 Nxt from an unknown big account yesterday. No reply on who it was.

In short: I choose to work with the situation as is. I can't force anyone to give out their stake, so prefer to focus on the things that are, not what I'd like them to be.

My, I should become a preacher... Sorry if that sounded a bit over the top...  Undecided

A treasurer will hold the fund. For now come-from-beyond is our treasurer. He already said he can take the pressure  Roll Eyes We could help to relieve him off duty when we have multi-sign acc in place.

Going down the number crunching (simulated mining) type of path gives undue credibility to those who say it's not fair distribution unless all your coins are distributed that way.  Part of our message should be that our distribution is just as fair as anything else and not send mixed messages about that point.  After all, the masses won't mine or be a part of any IPO so points about initial distribution are moot to them.

I say this as someone who "mines" for Ripple on the World Community Grid for the fun if it, but I think it makes Ripple look like they are desperately trying to appease some of their biggest critics.

Either way NEX is STILL a DECENDANT of NXT.
NXT has the 1st spot already.
But on a serious note it would be devastating if you helped out
