If devs are to laizy to write the math and shemes down well what can we do.
in the white paper, we need the math, pictures and drawings about algo now.
so the only persons that can deliver here are the DEVs, we asked over and over but no reaction.
with all respect, maybe BCNext should do this!
Pin
Only BCNext can do that, the other devs don't have enough info about future TF properties. Can you politly ask him to write something down? we NEED this desperatly ! EDIT: before he gets hit by bus. (tell him copy-paste is allowed ) thank you

CfB, would the reward be at least enough to cover my costs fir the sms gateway?
Community will decide the amount of the reward. Should at least be be cost + some reward. SMS Gateway -> tremendous!

CfB,
Please confirm that unclaimed funds used to be 9 million NXT, but BCNext increased it to 10 million NXT and said that he expected the community to fund servers.
That is what I remember and the implication is certainly that 1 million NXT of unclaimed funds should go toward NXT infrastructure, eg. servers.
9'223K NXT + 10 BTC is yet available. Reserved from the amount above: 10 BTC - NRS crypto algo audit 250k NXT - Whitepaper 100k NXT - fatal flaw reward 100k NXT - AM contest rewards 100k NXT - fiat gateway rewards 100k NXT - minusbalancer's bounty for the client (Edit: It will be paid from the Development fund) X NXT - 1st SMS-to-NXT gateway reward So up to 8.5M could be spend for the infrastructure, not necessarily 1M. Can you estimate if our current servers are enough to handle 1000TPS? Do we need a lot more servers or are we fine with current levels? I want us to be efficient with NXT usage, but I want to make sure the network can handle the 1000TPS. That sounds like a really good number If we can determine the cost of supporting 1000TPS, then we can allocate the funds ahead of time and even get ready to ramp up the servers, but only deploy them as the TPS actually starts climbing. This way, we can grow the NXT network most cost effectively. Once we have that budgeted, then we can see what other costs the NXT community can reach consensus on. James

Is anyone interested in sponsoring a chess tournament on ICC? (chessclub.com? ) ICC was founded back in 1991 (at that time it was known as ICS) -- long before google and and yahoo. It has hundreds of International Grandmasters and International master -- not to mention 30 thousand (and more) regular chess players who pay $60 a year membership fees. Here is a list of active ICC members http://www6.chessclub.com/activities/all_handles.phpThis is a list Grandmasters who play on ICC http://www6.chessclub.com/help/GM-bio(the list of International masters is much larger) A big chess tournament on ICC where the prize money is awarded in Nxt (must be enough money though to attack all the grandmasters) can attract media coverage OUTSIDE of crypto community. I emailed Martin Grund (one of the founder of ICC) and asked him if ICC would hold such a tournament where prize money would be in Nxt (donated by Nxt community) and they will advertise the tournament to their members, and in the media. Here is how that email exchange went: Martin Grund via messagingengine.com Feel free to reply to this email with your needs. Hi, I am already supporting two smaller tournaments - one chess and one starcraft match from the NxtMarketing fund, but budget for these is 5-15.000 https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AgAGADgnQcrtdHRrV3V3Z1lzOXVEMWtqdElUaEtqV1E#gid=15There are also planned Poker tournaments. We risk if we do not maintain them they will be shut down one by one, so I would like to have view on that

Can you politly ask him to write something down? we NEED this desperatly !
Asked ages ago, his position sounds like that (my wording): Satoshi's whitepaper has never been critically reviewed. This led to the situation when serious problems like Centralization, Selfish Mining, etc. were revealed too late. More problems will arise in the future (Huge Fees, Ecological Catastrophe). By refusing to write the whitepaper BCNext forces us to analyze Nxt concept as deep as possible.

I can tell u the lowest bound of bandwidth requirement: Min transaction length = 128 bytes 1000 tps = 1000 * 128 byte * 8 bit/byte / 1 s = 1 Mbps

We risk if we do not maintain them they will be shut down one by one, so I would like to have view on that I think 100% of NXT community will agree that we must keep the server infrastructure running and be able to support 1000TPS. I need input from people that know about current server loads if we are anywhere close to saturation now, etc. How many VPS servers do we have? How much do they cost? It could be that the thousands of NXT servers running on people's computers are providing enough infrastructure, or maybe we desperately need more hallmarked power servers. I just have no visibility into this. Anybody? Ideally, we will know enough to be able to budget properly for this. It is certainly mission critical. James

I know, I got the idea when I saw someone sponsor small $500 worth of tournament on FICS. ICC is on different league (easily 30,000 active members and hundreds of grandmasters and money like $500 isn't going to attract GMs. Just typing "w T" right now on ICC shows 37 GMs, IMss, and FMs online 3302^N-Chadaev(GM) 1583.lollipop(WFM) 2558#Fantom64(IM) 3151^Glamurius(GM) 3120:Tiger-Lilov(IM) 2528.Petrovich(GM) 3121^kvaxchira(IM) 3079^Olegas(IM) 2526 Champbuster(GM) 2907^INDIAN-ELEPHANT(GM) 2928.Saw(GM) 2449^QvC(IM) 2705#anat(GM) 2895^YARDBIRD(GM) 2420#chesstrainer(IM) 2650^fizteh(IM) 2843.JJOKK(IM) 2252^Zorch(IM) 2505^diasattack(FM) 2794 SmallStardo(IM) 2158.Ashkeef(IM) 2443^MrErasmus(IM) 2754:JDoss(FM) 2035^Connor7(IM) 2356:Bones(GM) 2703.AgentSmith(IM) 2365.Top-Notch(IM) 2271.ptijean67(IM) 2653 BlitzKicker(FM) ----#LazyPawn(IM) 2246^laity(IM) 2626^RomanYankovsky(IM) ----.Voin(IM) 2244 igor(IM) 2575 Serlock(IM) 1541 JOP(GM) 1888.vish(FM)
37 Players displayed (of 970).
A tournament like the one I suggested will mean anywhere between 20,00 + new Nxt accounts Plus media coverage Of course if its too much money it can't be happen then ... Would it be possible to make it $5000? In the short email that I had with the ICC founder, he seem to suggest that they can add their own money to prize fund to make it bigger

Wiki translation bounties calculatedI get to be Santa tonight! This is the final list of scores for wiki translations for December 2013 and January 2014. The wiki's "permanent home" was established near the end of December, so we're putting the two months together. Top prize goes to Damelon, who contributed 16% of all translations on the site... but there's a little something for everybody who contributed translations. I'm going to start sending out rewards right away. Totals and transactions are all here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AkfSNgBIzmvXdHcxSnBMUkp3bWFubzdfVmJySGVTX2c&usp=sharingIf you own one of the accounts for whom no account info is available, send me an email from your wiki account using this link to prove your identity and supply me your Nxt account number Thank you very much!

All nodes must have at least so much bandwidth. Forging nodes must have more coz not all transactions r included into blocks. If nodes don't have enough bandwidth then they'll face "event horizon" effect.
