Doge is going against  BTC price so if BTC tanks is doge going to tank too. We might just break out from the shadow of BTC, another possibility and is all coming down to popularity and guess what we have a big and very strong community.

Mind telling me why will people mine DOGE instead of other coin if other coins are more profitable?

Don't you read the news, Doge is the most talked about crypto. We got the biggest community and our efforts will give Doge it's value in the long run.  BTC is now being controlled by the Top people (MtGox) look what they are doing, to me is clearly currency manipulation. They do it we can too. We got to keep pushing, donating and keep Doge in everyone's mouth

We have people willing to invest millions of dollars into our coin, we have the strongest community in the alt coin world, we have media exposure on a reasonably regular basis, we have gone from 33 to 295 Satoshi in just over a month. This coin is the only one worth investing in right now because it is the only one that has gone up - been dumped and bashed - then gone up again; over and over. Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin - they will be the three currencies that will be implemented by goods and service provider who chose to use cryptocurrency alongside FIAT. It may have started as a joke but it sure as hell ain't one now.

Possibly, but it may also result in a drop in hash rate leading to a lower diff which would ultimately keep the number of coins produced each day the same. We will have to wait and see how miners react en masse!
