Anyone else got this running on a Dell Precision T7500 workstation?
It has a XEON and should have AES-Ni support, but I cannot find
anything in the BIOS.

Also, does "hyperthreading" help?

I just enabled the hard memory allocation and waiting for the stupid
service pack to finish. Hoping I have decent non-AESNI speed at least.

How can I disable this "mining for developer" in yam?

You can't, its to support the developers instead of asking for donations.

Use the option aesni=on in the miner config, it should work.
And you should enable hyperthreading, it allows you to run twice as many threads

How can I disable this "mining for developer" in yam?

You can't, its to support the developers instead of asking for donations.

From the readme:

"When mining for developers being activated, miner clearly indicates that by displaying message [...]"

That's pretty misleading when it can't be deactivated imo.

I really liked the concept of this coin when I discovered it, but there's a pretty huge amount of coin flow to "developers". A significant pre-mine, allegedly to pay for more development of the coin, then this more-than-1% fee to the yam (= closed source?) developer, plus a 3.5% pool fee...
Then there's the voting system, which due to the premine results in a dictatorship which results in more coin flowing to the people who already hold a lot...

There's a lot of hidden tax here and all this is really far from a fair distribution model and likely the main reason this coin hasn't taken off so much, and maybe never will.
Just my 2 cents.

Dwarfpool takes 2% fee, no idea why everyone sticks to the 3.5% fee pools.

I agree that the sentence from the yam readme may be misleading, it means that there's a message when mining for developers but could be understood differently because of the word activated.
Nevertheless, yvg made a great effort with his miner and basically threw gpus out of the game. He used the 1% fee approach with protoshares already.
Of course everyone would prefer an open source miner without fees, but that's his way to do it.

There's another closed source miner taking less (https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=2042.0), but it's a bit slower. And the open source miner is free, but really slow on new processors (while my old laptop got twice the hpm with it compared to yam...0.36:0.18  Undecided )

The premine went to a lot of different people, not only developers. In fact the beta (where the so called "premine" was done) was public.

And finally, calling the voting system a dictatorship is ridiculous when only 5-9% of all coins are actually voting (even less in the beginning - for example 1-4% at block 600: http://mmcvotes.com/block/600 ) and there's only one or two real candidates for all the positions.
FreeTrade decided to keep out of the voting process a long time ago, there's a discussion going on at the moment if he shouldn't return to use his vote because of the low participation (an officer who officially resigned is still elected, the - new and only - other candidate catching up slowly). Currently ft's vote goes to the spoil addresses and doesn't change anything.

There's a lot of fud out there, don't believe everything you read.

And finally, about the take-off: mining is still profitable and a lot of coins are immideately dumped for profit - wait for the block reward to go down in the next weeks/months and you'll probably see a change Smiley

Well said.
I have to say it's just like with MultiMiner it is made and upgraded and supported by nwools.  All he asks is the 1% and he has provided tons of technical support and actually supports BFGMiner Scrypt support as well.  He is also working hard to support some new hardware for us all too.

With MMC we have several developers and yvg1900 has been doing the same thing with YAM.  He even helped me tweak my setup today.  I have no issue with the donation mining as he keeps supporting and developing the software and helps the community directly when help is needed.
YAM literally improved my hpm from .330 to 1.4-1.7 hpm.  That really was a feat that doesn't happen by accident.
It also is not hidden anywhere the donation mining is very upfront.

The pre-mine has been used to help charities and even community members get things done.  This does not happen on other coins.  Paying people for their effort above and beyond just mining helps bring more to the community in the way of talent and quality and speed of work.

I was skeptical at first myself but with everything being in the open and people working and supporting this coin has really made me believe in it.

It's a great community and an excellent coin.

actually, it turns-out that this cpu does not have it and I cannot allocate hard memory because it only
has 4 G memory

I have one machine left that DOES have AESNI if I can get it turned on

I'm not sure but I get 2+ using YAM running an AMD A8.
Here is a good link to the YAM mining software.  yvg1900 supports it very well and helps out with tweaking configs on this page.
I hope this helps you.

an i7 perform much better with MMC, my i5-3570k returns >10 MMC/day currently
With a similar powerful i7 you may at least double that value.

Why this coin is so undervaluate?
If you want value up just make it trade-able on Cryptsy.
Then fast some speculators will come.
But it will bring pump-dump scheme to it so buy before is cheap.
ASIC free coins are always valuable because many people are interested in them.
Some coins need to wait about month to six ore more to get 5x-1000x jump.
On Cryptsy there is not many coins that weren't pumped Cheesy.

It's ok. Every time you start mining, you donate the first 4 shares to developers. That's all.
