BFL is behind by less than a month, if you can even classify it as being behind, since we never promised a shipping date.  Be that as it may, if history repeats itself, we'll be right on target and timeframe for the Monarch.  Our second generation FPGA was underpromised and overdelivered as far as performance goes... if history repeats itself, the second generation ASIC will be as well.

As you can see there is nothing to worry about. First they can not be classified as late because they never promised a date. BFL late again? IMPOSSIBLE! Next for those worried about "history repeating itself"; as you can see Josh IS counting on history repeating itself. The problem is that none of you are smart enough to realize that history skips every other generation. So it's not their extremely late gen1 ASIC history that will be repeated but their FPGA history which according to Josh "grounded deeply in reality" Zerlan, was "underpromised and overdelivered". All Monarch customers can rest assured that their products will arrive right on the never promised ship date. Hurray!

Most subsystems (State, IO, frequency control, counters, etc) on the chip have been tested and passed. The engine tests are still ongoing. The test software was returning unexpected results which turned out to be a bug in the testing software and has been (and is being) rewritten from scratch, so testing of the engines is taking a little longer than expected. The current estimation is that we should be done testing the chip in the next few days. In the meantime, the packaged chips should be on their way to the testing facility, though I don't yet have tracking numbers or confirmation of this. No show stoppers with chip bring up encountered so far, though it is taking longer than I would have liked. I keep expecting a call saying they are done, but there's nothing unexpected happening with the chip so far, so that's good. I was informed that our packaging facility will be shipping out the chips next week (not sure what day specifically yet) - I will be at the Berlin conference, but I'll try to keep things updated as best I can whilst traveling.

I ordered the BFL single (from the US) from "in-stock" and had it in less than 2 weeks (in the Netherlands). But yes, that was in-stock...

If you want to have the newest you'll have to go pre-order. Whether that's KnC or BFL or whatever... Bitmain is simply "lagging" in technology (but I do like their "no pre-order philosophy" et cetera, but that's a choice...)

BFL is not making anything "new" by the time it arrives on your door step 3 to 4 months from now that is being generous 300 / 600 Gh/s cards like they are proposing are losers in this market. They are way behind what is cutting edge and they can't catch up at this point particularly with the cooling they are planning. With every "new" design they are falling behind the competition that are moving towards higher density and more exotic cooling and pretty much getting mining equipment out of homes into the "cloud". 11 months of design now for the Monarch and another 3 to 4 months to get it working and shipped is way too SLOW in this game. BFL is the last company anyone should deal with and the point is not PRE-SALES vs IN STOCK. What BFL does is not PRE-SALES it is taking investors money and giving them NO equity in the company. Simply put no one in their right mind should be giving BFL money for anything. BFL is the one that LAGS in technology since when they arrive on market they are pretty much ROI black holes.
