So, are there still any pools going?  Seems like http://earthcoin.cryptohashery.com/ just shut off mining and didn't pay out what's been mined already.

this pool is still running fine:
http://earth.vircurpool.com/

Looks good to me! Get into the pool, guys!

Difficulty appears to finally be falling like it should be. Can we get the pools back online?

The block 362 had been calculated at diff 25.28638478. That means that the network hash power atm was approximately 1.81Gh (25.28638478*65536×(2^48 / 65535 / 60)). Do you think that in one hour that power was switched to this new coin?

What? I said the difficulty was falling now. As of block 370 its back down to 6.23498.

I mean that the diff (or block times) is broken. I would not expect that it will be OK until the problem is fixed. I think the diff will go back and forth between 6 and 26. Not nice scene to mine.

network was 2,700.000+ MH/s
now 1,465.337 MH/s
test asic scrypt?

I think no. Most likely the diff retargeting is broken somehow.

The diff retarget code is the same used by many coins. What I see is that some block times seem messed up. This is weird, it sound like the network clock was not sync'd.

Recent few blocks the block times are fine:
>>> nHeight = 369, blocktime now = 1387609640, previous = 1387609600
>>> nHeight = 369, nTargetSpacing = 60, nActualSpacing = 40

Pool remains open for payments only, not mining because the difficulty retarget was not working properly. Failure to launch. I shut the pool down around 1am EST right after we found block 356. The network is only on block 370 80 minutes later so there are still quite a few blocks left to be confirmed before payout (50 confirms for minted blocks).

What if we're sitting at around 96, just under the payout amount ? Anyway to get these ?

Does anyone know where the massive amount of hashing power is still coming from? I only see a few pools up and VirCurPool is doing 71.779 MH/s compared to the network hashrate of 1,465.337 MH/s.

Where's the other 95% coming from?

Edit: 2 minutes later it's down to this:

Network Hashrate: 458.007 MH/s

This is certainly very weird

I changed the minimum auto-payout to 1. You can always use the manual payout feature too.

The retarget algorithm is screwed dude, don't take it as a real info.

Tough launch so far, tough crowd however totally justified and appreciated criticism even for the unforeseens. Thank you for all posts especially those raising awareness to be safe.

Responding to PM's slowly, will do our best to turn this negative experience into a positive one over the next few days. We definitely didn't want this to hiccup however despite a rough start the objective stays the same and I'll think of a few ways to make it up to you early guys that stayed up for this or lost out during the rush when we start our giveaway etc.

Diff lowering steadily, pools working ok again one by one, code inspected again for QC, a few steps closer to normal now.

Thank you!

diff retarget algorithm is nothing new, it is used by many other coins. You can check the code there:
https://github.com/earthcoinproject/earthcoin

main.cpp:GetNextWorkRequired function. All is standard...
