1/4 the hashrate on XMR now; those ASICS really squeeze out the little guys for sure.
If asics/FPGA weren't manufactured and used in such a scandalous way, or if the hardware was cheap; then they wouldn't be such a bad thing. Similar to the initial BTC hardware days...... But over the last 2-3 years; the hardware has become increasingly more shady in terms of price and time to public market... which drove XMR to act the way they are by forking every 6, and now (from what I read) 3 months....
I notice a nice steady nethash now; as well as lower nonces in the blocks recently.... This is a true telltale sign that the asics were owning the world for a while. You could tell when the gigantic FPGA farms were turning on and off for a day or two at a time. Block times and nethash looking like a roller coaster. Definitely not normal... all of this is pretty much gone from the network now.
Such a catch 22 of a subject no matter what stance you take.
I am enjoying my profitability jumping way back up on my rig full of outdated hardware that acts as my space heater.
I really hope that ETH devs decide to fork to ProgPOW in the next few months and it will be interesting to see how many ASICs are actually mining ETH. I am guessing that many of these ETH ASICs are private and were never sold to the general public, only the inefficient ones Bitmain sold which was a similiar efficency like a GPU. I am guessing that 50% of all ETH hashrate is some form of ASIC or FGPA. In my eyes; ETH has always been somewhat shady.... Dev control of network... Programmable nature of ETH.... smart contracts and the fallacies therein that have been exploited countless times now..... etc... I could just never trust it. But; like other coins; if it gets hyped enough; it doesn't matter is nobody actually uses it for any of the root purposes; people buy into the hype. I too am interested to see how much of a shady foundation ETH has been sitting on nethash-wise. Now these are just opinions; and hopefully I made it clear why they are my opinions. I do not expect anyone to adopt them, but just simply understand the logic behind them as my stance. I hope XMR holds true. I actually believe its ability to be an anonymous coin if used in the proper manner. As others have alluded, the shady piece is ohgodagirl and progpow. I can't believe the developers bought (caved) into the hype. Call it centralized, but ETH is pretty stable, and thats why it holds its value. The last thing they need to do is tie their wagon to a new algo that is hyped by an accused scammer. Also keep in mind since profits are in the dumpster everyone is clamoring to rid the world of anything that is not a GPU. If this were 2 years ago people could care less and would be stepping over each other to get the new asic or fpga. Switching algos on Eth is a solution looking for a problem.

You sound retarded, ASICS are a plague upon most cryptoS, they dilute earnings for the masses and make decentralized assets centralized into the hands of the Chinese basically, who are actually anti crypto ASICS are a good thing what are u smoking lol The eth dag is going to make most ASICS and 3 to 4 gig cards useless soon anyways so moving to progpow which supports lower memory cards is most likely going to be a must at some point , so it’s more than just about oh god a girl and her involvement or non involvement. They will not be able to reliably secure thier network unless new ASICS are made next year so might as well fork. For as much as people bash ohgod and her team they did provide the masses with the ethpill for free , which is more than any scammy asic manufacturer has done, screw shitmain and thier coupons

She likes to play figurehead and all but she wasn't the one who came up with the pill, neither did she invent ProgPow. There were a lot of smart people working on different projects. She just put her mug on it. Worked well on the pill, but she screwed up on Mineority. Now she's putting all her eggs into the ProgPow basket. Look, I have nothing against people who try and fail. I do however despise people who find cop outs and don't take ownership when they do.

Sold some rvn yesterday it climbed past 0.00001
BCI is floating around 0.000028 would love to see an up tick
Grin dropped again to 0.0006145
Doge I have more the 30000 hope for an uptick to 0.00000085
lastly
LTC is doing okay 0.0147
I mine LTC and Doge at the big solar array
Grin and BCI at the small solar array
I think a good uptick would help me a lot.
I also think ohgodagirl and sql = a large mess
Mostly due to sql not her. My reasoning is sql was the "real" company so what were they thinking they new they took in all that money and had no working prototypes. All the numbers were lies. They never showed a working acorn hashing the number they claimed.
to this day they never did it. If you are a real company why do that risk your business with basically lies upon lie upon lie.
Lawsuits are around the corner.
ohgodagirl basically went bankrupt due to the price crash bad but less sleazy the sql.
I would rate her a c- and him an f

I can’t feel much sympathy for poeoplr who lost $$ on the fpga scams , and it’s not just squirrel lol there were like 3 or more that took people for a ride. I posted early on both threads ... we have seen this story before , they have no units in the wild , not even reviewable engineering samples and ppl threw millions at them , what could go wrong lol. I’d like to say this is the last time people get scammed by preorders on this board but I’d be fooling myself, if anyone should take owenership as well is the idiots that put money into basically another ico due to greed. Yeah u got ripped off but you had ample warning , we have seen this same scenario play out countless times : IF THEY ARE NOT SHIPPING FROM STOCK ITS AT YOUR OWN RISK, don’t come crying back to the board

I think maybe the mining resurgence will come after the new amd gpu lineup comes out and makes 470s/570s somewhat obsolete. Probably with some new coins with new fancy features. The future is always looking good to me. If its not dead its still alive.

i would like to point out that there is another option, passive income like rooms/apartment/anything for rent produces current too just a different kind of current called currency $$$ that currency can get you coins thru exchanges or run your rigs thru the electric company by sending them $$$. here is a food for thought, the biggest mining farm--> federal reserve, they can print 4000$ cash for just around 3$ cost...just 3$ for 1 BTC...even cheaper, just typing 4000$ in a computer, that's just cents in electricity and efforts for 1 BTC hehe The "passive income" thing can work, but it does have costs and needs a LOT of investment to generate significant income. My maternal Grandparents went that route after Grandpa retired - but they had fairly close to $1,000,000 to work with between Grandpa cashing out his "employee stock purchase" plan, them selling their (fairly small) farm, etc. You can get started with quite a bit less than that though - but it's a case of "more investment = more income" and is pretty close to linear in a given area. The Federal Reserve Bank does NOT print money - that's the US Treasury Department via the US Mint(s), and they also turn metal into money (but sometimes at a LOSS on that, pennies in particular the material cost has been higher than 1 cent for a LONG time now). different countries different economic scenario, from where I am a 65,000$ can purchase a lot that you can lease at ~500$ a month, any improvements will increase the passive income from 500$ to above that..but surely you have to shift though shitcoins in real estate, sometimes you might get lucky. renewable energy=nature passive income=humans as battery, paying you money which is convertible to almost anything. look at phil's thread on the second solar farm, i think what people will commonly overlook is the warehouse owner has a cut in profits hehe yes we have 520th btc and 8gh ltc but only 260th is mine and buysolars and only 8gh ltc is mine and buysolars split again I have 130th of btc mining for free from now on. I have 2gh of ltc mining for free from now on. that is 644usd in btc for free that is 375usd in ltc for free that is 1059usd for me in coins for free or after spilts. each month. not getting rich on this. but the solar has big upsides in NJ so big we will be doing a bigger setup soon maybe 2x or 1.5x so my 1059 would get 1500 or 2000 more. and with the splits the way they are structured my power cost fear/risk goes by by. And I hodl most of that coin. just like I do with BCI. I am hoping for 1 good run in the next five years. I can keep on doing what I am doing cause it always makes some money. One good run and it becomes serious money. at least with money coming in (still on the positive side of the ledger) it will keep you going.. building during bear market is better than running after money if the "good run" happens hehe

Greed made people take leave of thier senses and give an unproven team who was not even a single entity , millions of dollars to provide a mining advantage that made no sense to me really. How many times have we seen companies take money only to use it to build thier own gear and send thier investors either late and worthless gear or nothing at all. Greed is probably the same reason they broke up and Ran off with peoples crypto, lol you are all crying and blaming ohgod , lol why not blame everyone equally? Who accepted the funds squirl or minority , who the fuck knows lol. Just because they say they will make good is more of a delaying tactic TM beekeeper lol. I would honestly rather they went silent if I was invested so I could move the fuck on with my life lol

SQRL/Allmine/Squirrel Research was/is an established company with track record and everything. You are also long enough in the game to know that timing can be everything. Get in too late and you get crumbs. OGAG had some credentials to her name. She used to work for a large hosting company (the name escapes me, blame altzheimer or something lol), so her setting up that scheme in collaboration with SQRL was believable (and tbh worked out to some extent). It's not even the parts that didn't work out that annoy me. The whole thing wasn't even a scam. The hardware was delivered, and put to hosting. It's the "F you all, speak to my lawyers" attitude that followed which annoys me, nothing else.

You just proved my point , TIMING they mined early when those fpgas were quite profitable internally, and delivered to you guys after they were basically worthless, it’s the same old trick all pre-order teams pull It was exactly what I expected to happen

from what i understand, some devs were mining privately on amazon AWS F1 instances and some with unmodified VCU1525s way before any of this stuff was announced publicly. the idea for selling BCU1525s (which are basically just modified VCU1525s) came later and delays were on Xilinxs end as they were not paid on schedule IIRC. due to cash flow problems from mineority or sqrl, not sure which as they were all intertwined at that time. otherwise we would of had them much sooner. naturally this is from my recollection and may be wrong.

that is the question isnt it. one theory (which i believe) is that mineority kept all/most eth payments as eth instead of cashing in at least enough to cover immediate and an amount of future cash needs. then of course eth tanked. one rumor i heard was that kristy/ohgodagirl over promised the amount of BCUs that would be in demand, and the didnt pay according to the payment schedule agreed too. thus xilinx lowered sqrl BCU priority on the production line. of course that is speculation, based on discord conversations and my imperfect memory. once the lawyers and NDAs get all sorted out it will be an interesting story.

there were acorns and the 1525's
the acorns were not programmed or offered proper software.
the 1525's came late.
most likely they held eth it crashed and that explains the 1525 issue. my guess is very bad money management and the lack of
understanding of the risk of price crashing explains the FPGAs 1525's.
This is a fuckup ,but not criminal intent as such still not good. Stinks of a lawsuit big time.
But there is no info on why Acorns claimed to be able to do abc with software and there is zero proof that software ever was around. My opinion is that sql will get sued over the acorns. Possibly get charged with fraud.
Since they have never proven the claims they made were true in the first place.
