well.. for a while now I'm thinking we can ALL go to "our" forum and build/promote that one instead of this. There all topics can be distributed to their own threads (organized), not like here - big bunch of pieces in one big mashup (NOT organized).

anyone agrees?

one hundred pages. Isn't it a little bit too much if you want to keep track of things? For example, try to find novocaines first banner design  Wink
also - people constantly ask the same questions, no matter the answers were given few times in previous posts, just because they CAN'T find them. Example: how do I backup my wallet?

Like I said - there will be a thread posted tonight detailing the info and plans. If you wish to support it after reading it - donate, if not - not.

then I'll wait for that one and won't open my own

This is what I am proposing as well.
Getting organized. Creating a dedicated fund for marketing purposes.
Having one/two people in charge

I don't see many people wanting to get in charge of things.

That's why I proposed this in the first place. Enough of child play, our competition is serious Smiley

P.S. I  apologize if anyone here got offended by the tone of my latest posts. I simply want this coin to succeed, and all I am doing is offering help.

The wallet.dat is all you need to preserve your PRT.
Just so long as you copy it somewhere safe once particle-qt has shutdown successfully
and NOT while it is still running.

Just to be perfectly clear:

The idea of getting organized was already put forth both in this thread and elsewhere and the official location for coordinating marketing planning has already been created and is located here:

http://forum.bitparticle.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=258

And of course ssshhh has now created the thread for sourcing graphic designer resources.

My biggest concern is also the fact this will have to be open source for 2 reasons. One because it will have qt elements, GPL requires you to open source. And 2, community won't accept a wallet that is not open source.

So in my opinion we need a solution for this. I have no idea what, but the main selling point will be up for grabs for any established currency...

Please direct your efforts through the official planning thread so everybody is on the same page and consistent.

We do not necessarily need more chiefs, we need the crowd to participate in the official threads and the cream of the crowd ideas will rise to the top naturally.

We do not need funds to get started.  If you want to build a fund that is all well and good, but the priority right now is to determine the core messaging and brand values that can then be fed to a designer and professional copywriter to draw on.

The wallet itself does not actually use any pre-existing code.  It simply consumes the RPC interface.  It consumes other open source libraries, but there is nothing in it that technically requires it to be open sourced (well, there are some QT icons in it right now, but they will be replaced).

But, non-technically, the community will indeed demand open source software anyway so it will need to be released at some point.

Draw out the beta period over enough time to build a barrier to entry by getting app store and a set of apps built.  Build apps that are desirable that themselves are not open source or are some way exclusive to PRT.

Well, I already own some patents but I don't really believe in them.  At the moment the PRT wallet only _links_ to other libraries, which poses its own license questions.  Not all are GPL, some have other licenses with varying terms.  In any event, the idea with the Particle wallet wasn't intended to build a commercial/centrally-controlled product... but it does present the interesting challenge of how to balance being open source vs. protecting market position.  Bulding out the ecosystem to critical mass will help to build a barrier.

How about PRT/BTC on CoinMarket.io?

It would be quite slow to deposit, considering a 100 confirmation requirement...

(a hint to the coin's dev: the 100 confirmation requirement is ridiculous when you have enough hashrate (eg. not a dead coin))

we've been waiting for this day to come!

I think people can live with the 100 confirmation for now. It's only really 25 mins which is lower than a lot of coins already.

•••••Particle’s key differentiator in the crypto currency marketplace is its advanced wallet technology.  Unlike most “alt coins” that are simple copy-and-paste clones of Bitcoin-Qt with a few parameter changes, Particle has a unique wallet with user friendly features for a sublime user experience.•••••The Particle advanced wallet, codenamed “BitParticle”, offers an incredible user experience through a “Modern” (previously known as “Metro”) style user interface.  The interface features a focus on typography (the so-called “Swiss” style popularized in the 1960′s), titles, and tabs.  Plugins are able to hook in and expose their own tabs in the UI that contain their functionality.•••••Our wallet is created on the .NET Framework and is cross platform with the open source Mono project.  The wallet code is implemented in C# with the help of a few open source libraries and communicates with the particled Particle daemon through the JSON-RPC (remote procedure call) interface.•••••Particle wallet is “extensible”.  This means it can be extended by the community to add new features directly in the wallet.  This is the same concept as add-ins in Firefox or apps for the iPad.  Community developers and hobbyists can create plugins that are loadable by the wallet to expand the feature set.•••••
