The Counterparty team has given no such warning.

We cannot speak for anyone else, but there is no Counterparty company, and none of its creators has ever made money off of its users or even been in control of user funds.

There's still not enough Counterparty discussion going on at the official forums - https://forums.counterparty.io/

Let's talk XCP!

GRATE! It is a community project.

Agree. Counterparty is a tool, an open source financial platform, an open source software which is just like Linux.

Everyone can develop some unique APP based on Counterparty.

Luke Jr's public apology for poor gentoo packaging:

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2iuf4s/lukejrs_public_apology_for_poor_gentoo_packaging/

If a mining pool owner chose to ban some transactions w/ fees, this pool would not be a good pool. Why not ban transactions w/o fees? Wink

One good thing that will come out of this that BTC cartel will realize that XCP is actually enhancing its usability. We will have less of Lucas Jr. types trying to police the transactions.
Actually Eligius (Luke Jr pool) is the first to process OP_RETURN 80 bytes transactions.
Is that already in place?  From what I understand that those changes would take a while to be implemented by Eligus
This one is fairly simple, though nothing is in place yet (these changes are being made to a new 0.9.3-based codebase, while Eligius is still running 0.8.x).
If anyone would like to help in general (not just Eligius), make a thread polling miners on their interest in doing this sort of thing and I can link it from the merge request.

Thank you! That is one of the most important steps for Counterwallet right now.

It is a tough job, I spent 7 hours on it, still 18% not done yet, I need translate 5-6000 words  Grin

Really hope finish it today, it is China 3:47PM, it seems possible to me.

Wow, good work.  I know that strong Chinese engagement has been a major factor in making BitSharesX a success so far.  Something like 2/3rds of BTSX trading volume is in the BTSX/CNY pair.

http://www.btc38.com/trade/vote_for_trade_en.html  xcp is on NO.1 for a long time, should be listed btc38 very soon!

That would  be good news!

Everybody, there is an enormous amount of misinformation going around in the press. We're working to fix that ASAP. In the meantime, please help us correct errors as you see them!

For the record:

1) Overstock.com and Counterparty are partnering to build a platform (Medici) for trading stocks on Counterparty and using Counterparty's decentralized exchange.

2) I, along with Ouziel (JahPowerBit), will continue working on the Counterparty protocol full-time. Robby and Evan will continue to work on Counterparty full-time because Medici is a front-end for Counterparty.

The Wired and Coindesk articles make it sound as though we are abandoning this project. Nothing could be further from the truth!

Thank you,
Adam

Thanks for the clarification!

If you want to put it into cold storage, you can put it on any BTC address where you own the private key. If you want to retrieve your funds from cold storage, you can then import the private key into http://counterwallet.io.

Or you can create an armory offline address:

If you just want to cold store your XCP, a bitcoin address is enough. The only thing you need to do is keep the bitcoin address private key safe.

Only BTC addresses you have private keys. So it means you cannot send to your address in exchanges or some online wallets you don't have private keys (bitcoin.info wallet is fine).
