Where's the best tutorial to installing counterpartyd on Ubuntu 14.04? I'll probably need it.

There are ready to use binaries at https://github.com/rippler/btc-jmcorgan-addrindex-v0.9.2.0-fca268c-beta if you're not up to building it yourself

thanks. I'll have a look when I am free.

While I know and trust rippler 100%, it would be great to have this as a torrent with some verified hashes.

In regards to the Bter thing, I just want to point out that Andreas Antonopoulos predicted long ago the potential dangers of keeping substantial crypto funds on any exchange since they are centralized entities.

I keep the majority of my crypto currency in platforms which I have control of the private keys and the only time I use an exchange is when I want to...exchange/trade for an alt coin or us dollars and that's it. Please don't keep huge sums of funds on any centralized exchange which controls the private keys because you never know when or if it might have a problem.

good point.

it is back up and running now btw.  but point well taken.

Well Im not so sure...My withdraw order is PENDING already 10h "Server Error"

I requested a withdraw yesterday and it says

"Waiting for balance..." and "Processing"

Last night I had a withdraw go into "Processing" mode, too. I sent them a support email. Today I see that the funds have been restored to my account. No email from them.

Earlier today when I tried to withdraw, I got a popup that says that XCP withdrawals have been disabled.

Just now I was able to submit the XCP withdrawal. I tried this about one minute ago, so I will let you know how it goes.

UPDATE 1: It looks like the withdrawal is going through. Waiting on confirmations.

UPDATE 2: Confirmed. The Bter withdrawal came through.

Bter either split their XCP into hot and cold wallets or the amount of XCP on Bter dropped by almost 50% in a week. Too lazy to check the transaction history.

The former (or split into multiple hot wallets), as far as I know (we were working past some bitcoind-related errors with bter dev).

Confirmation time is pretty much time to find the next block in Bitcoin. While Bitcoin targets 10 minutes it can easily be an hour or more depending on how often you do transactions.

Naive question perhaps ...
... but why is XCP's price collapsing so terribly?
thx

Because BTC is going down? I am sure XCP will go up when BTC rally comes. Wink

luke-jr is going mad again - I am not even entirely sure if this is a real problem given xcps implementation
