Interesting reading below re: Reddit notes

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2pt4kl/reddit_announces_reddit_notes_aka_reddit_bitcoin/cmzv4na?context=3

I was curious about what exactly "Counterparty is awesome and is the right tool for a lot of projects, but there are a few reasons that make it less than ideal for reddit.. " entailed (technically speaking, CounterParty seemed to be a decent fit for such a deployment, and is pretty mature as far as these things go) The rationale seemingly boils down to 'purist' ideological biases moreso than specific technical concerns

http://www.reddit.com/r/blog/comments/2owj55/welcome_drew_ryan_mike_daniel_joe_dave_david/cmrzqtu?context=3

Regardless It's exciting to see larger entities recognising the possibility of low friction, open blockchain based asset ownership tech

they should be using dogeparty or ripple, or launch a DPOS type coin with fast transfer times.  that guy is so biased i am surprised that the reddit guys hired someone like that.  good luck to them.

I was pretty surprised as well.

I'm really confused why he would consider sidechains over Counterparty, since they really are nothing more than theory currently.

there is a lot of bias and lack of knowledge in the space

if the Reddit board members should speak with the Overstock CEO and Medici guys, that is probably the right direction to take.  if they want faster tx then do it using dogeparty rather than xcp/btc but the biggest hurdle is setting it up so that it gets approval from the SEC.

According to recent posts, they are avoiding anything that could get them in trouble with the SEC. So the tokens will be used in a way that do not fall under any existing jurisdiction, making this situation even more confusing.

yes that is the odd thing.  i presume they did some research and knew that there is a project that is investing a lot of money and resources into making an SEC-compliant way to use blockchain based technology for releasing tokens that represent stock equity, yet they are going to choose to break their own word and mandate which I guess came from their Board and Investors.

oh well whatever time makes common sense prevail....

To send to a multisig address, just put in the destination field a multisig (m of n) address with this format: n_address1_address2_m

In order to set up your own multi-sig address, you do the following:

  • Create 2 or 3 addresses in Counterwallet
  • Make a regular transaction with each of these addresses, so that the pubkey of each address is visible on the blockchain.

Then you be able to add these as a multi-sig address here (following the same format 2_address1_address2_m or 3_address1_address2_address3_m):

Now you can use your multi-sig address like a normal address to make a (or any type of) transaction. However because it is a multi-sig transaction, you will get an unsigned raw transaction. In order to broadcast it, you will need to sign it with each address (varies based on your chosen m-of-n).

You can use the "sign transaction" action for each corresponding address that is required to make it valid.

Quoting this in case anyone missed it.  Smiley

No. Smart contracts can do anything chancecoin can. For example, here is a lottery: https://github.com/PeterBorah/ethereum-powerball

Although they are currently on testnet using "monopoly" BTC, so it will be a few months before it is on mainnet with real BTC.
