For those who are not yet aware, @mrpj is making a wonderful job on the cachecoin stats and explorer subdomains. For his work, I'm giving him 150 CACH, any more donations/tips for him should go to
Code:
CMctUaGFaKNK7aF9YvfmSaNcXCFou7oEuv
I'll send him whatever is there when he's done

Thanks kalgecin!

For some stats, have a look over here:
http://stats.cachecoin.org/

and some recent charts:

http://stats.cachecoin.org/charts

There will be some more updates today, I will also add poloniex exchange data to the charts.

Could someone explain the the differences between CACH and Vert, besides the PoS? I can see that they have a quite different approach to the N-factor:
For example, Vertcoin began at a N-factor of 10, while CACH began at 5.

CACHe offers some more additions:

You have Proof of Stake mining which decentralized the currency even more.
And even
when the hashrate drops drastically, transactions are confirmed in the target time so there will be no outtage of any sort. In the past week we experienced a huge drop in hashrate with a really unlucky phase leading that just few pow blocks were found - though the pos blocks took over and average confirmation time stayed around the same.

You can check the graphs for assurance

Another difference between vert and CACHe is, that the rewards will decrease when the difficulty increases. This means that this coin will actually punish large mining farms and make it render unprofitable to mine if the value does not increase vastly...

Edit:
thanks Jasin! I am just spreading the love

Edit2:
Forgot something:
I mined some vtc in the beginning because I like the idea of it - but after encountering troubles I went back to CACHe and started to rather work for this small but really helpfull community

Edit3:
Another proof for the benefits over vert:
The donation from jasin arrived instantly even though there has been no pow blocks for about 30 minutes - unlucky pool times and PoS blocks are handeld with priority

The latest windows wallet from page 1 is not working on my 64 bit machine.
The zip file only contains two files, without any extension and is unable to open.

Can someone take a look at it please.

Thanks

yup, that worked.
Thanks.

For POS, do I have to keep the wallet unlocked all the time(I mean without encrypting)?

Also on an average, if  I have 10 coins and if I keep the wallet running for 7 days, how much would I earn as POS?

Thanks

Yes, you need to keep the wallet unlocked in order to participate in POS.

Kalgecin, will have to let you know about the amount of POS you would receive.  Not sure on that.

Yes, the walled needs to be running and unlocked.

Upper bound that can be reached under ideal conditions is 5% interest per year, so with 10 coins and 7 days, expect at most 0.01 coins gained via POS.

But in reality, due to POS having its own difficulty and the coins moving, etc ... it is usually less than 5% (In my personal wallet with relatively low coin circulation I got about 0.15% "interest" via PoS per month, equaling to about 1.8% interest per year. YMMV.)

I rewrote the OP for the topic. If anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know so we can get them added.  I tried to make it as concise as possible while allowing beginning miners to jump in to mining CACH.

So why so many confirmations for mined blocks?  This seems a bit too long.

To limit the amount of people mining and dumping
Yet it is too much, 520! it looks like a free job rather than mining And miners almost no .. what kind of game? Wink

"official" cachcoin p2pool is up - 1% fee
http://p2pool.cachecoin.org:8336/static/

to mine, point your miners to p2pool.cachecoin.org:8336 with your wallet address as username and any password. Payouts will be made to that address on every block

It forces miners to wait for their CACHe to be credited to their wallet. Without this mechanism, miners would be able to mine and dump insane amounts of CACHe on an hourly basis.

Which Pool? Cach.catcoin.cz? That's based on an open source pool. You'll have to contact the pool owner for more info.

The sourcecode for p2pool can be found here : https://github.com/Sykh/p2pool-cache

It is easy to setup other nodes to support decentralisation :-)
