Launch time is perfect, keep it just like it is.

Are you going to upload the encrypted wallets before and give the password at launch? It might take me a while to compile it if you're not going to release a Linux binary.
Yes we are. It could take a while before we finally compile the Linux wallets for every flavor of Linux. Again, any complications one may have at the beginning should be averted by the block rewards. Ideally, it wouldn't even be advantageous to mine from the beginning as there will be a few difficulty retargets once the 1000th block is approached. Exactly, why mine at the beginning as the blocks are all basically empty, waste of electricity. I will not be mining, block one is already premined, so blocks 2-999 are empty except for 1 coin in each, correct?

We think this gives everyone an opportunity to compile everything before it fully launches.

According to my calculations, it would take us over 11 hours to reach the 1000th block(40 sec. block time). Correct me if I'm wrong.

It is depends about hash power of all network. MAX 998 * 40 s = 11 h but probably block will done within few seconds maybe 5 s per block = 82 minutes * * if I'm not wrong

It really depends on the hashing power at the start, but the first 60 blocks should be essentially an instamine - good thing that is only equivalent to someone signing up early. After that, the difficulty would adjust accordingly. I'd predict at least 1 hour.

You can mine without a wallet.

Stop trolling. This is from the OP: "Total Premine: ~0.78%" (400,000) "How we plan to spend the premine: At least 45,000 SMC (†) will be divided equally and given to the people who reserved their SMC beforehand. 30,000 SMC will be allocated into a faucet at launch. 200,000 SMC minus (†) before launch will be given to developers as bounties. 125,000 SMC will be reserved for future contests and promotion." 45k + 30k + 200k + 125k = 400k That's right, they'll keep NO coins for themselves. Please read before posting.

Are all the pools withholding stratum information until launch?
Also is it too late to reap the free coins?
Thanks
Edit: Looks like cryptotycoons has to update their stratum information, it says 'changeme'.

Will blocks actually be released faster than the 40 second mark if they're solved? I didn't think that's how it worked. Could you elaborate more on your second calculation?

40 seconds is the optimal expected time break the block. If the hash power is large then this time is shortened. Then work the mechanism for calculating the difficulties and will increase the difficulty. This time breaking blocks approaching the optimal (planned) in 40 seconds. Difficulty Retarget: Every 60 blocks (40 minutes) After every 60 blocks system calculate difficulty (based network hash power, current difficulty and planed block break time) and if hash power increases then difficulty up if is low power then difficulty down. self-monitoring mechanism I think the way it works, I'm not an expert.
