Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

There is a very real possibility that Vertcoin, with it's innovative features can overtake Bitcoin.
Bitcoin and Litecoin will drop in price while Vertcoin will rise, eventually surpassing Bitcoin entirely.

I will be writing an article about this possibility. Change must happen, Bitcoin and Litecoin are simply not secure enough to be considered a viable currency in the long run, there is massive hoarding in both.
Fortunately with only a little over 1,000,000 Bitcoin wallets being created, there is VERY little adoption, which gives Vertcoin a strong chance at contention.

The next step is MARKETING MARKETING MARKETING. I don't mean viral marketing, I mean real business oriented marketing. Vertcoin needs to be taken seriously

Its decent exchange, I traded some MTC there days ago, no problem with that. Only volume at VTC is quite small there.. But if you are going for few coins, good choice. For bigger hands coined up and cryptsy.. avoid.. Right now at cryptsy: 502 Bad Gateway

Azure Vertcoin Pool

DDOS reisistant P2Pool Node

http://cryptopool.cloudapp.net:9171/

To connect to this P2Pool node simply point your miner at:

URL: stratum+tcp://cryptopool.cloudapp.net:9171
Username: Your vertcoin address
Password: Anything

Sample configuration

cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://cryptopool.cloudapp.net:9171 -u VbNPoxNeiNg6Bj9RwjjS4GazDbKLgUqNDP -p X

Fast facts

1. P2Pool nodes are all part of one single, big, distributed pool
2. When any p2pool worker on any node finds a block, everyone on all the nodes gets paid their share
3. There is no pool wallet, and hence no payout threshold. Payments go directly to your wallet
4. The distributed nature of p2pool resists DDoS attacks

Decentralize the hashrate!

Bitcoin chart looks terrifying, glad I don't have any. Maybe a washout before a rally but if it keeps sliding into the abyss VTC may get a push just from refugees looking for somewhere to hide.

Keep an eye out for that.

You wouldn't be able to help me with this problem?
I'm trying to get BTC in my cryptsy :/ but having issues

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=451392.0

if you ahve BTC, dont buy at cryptsy.. that is some shitty exchange..
go for coined up.. ok, slower, but never ever problem there.. nothing like delayed deposits etc.. withdrawals are just INSTANT

thanks for the advice blaklig! I just bought 0.8 VTC at cryptsy to test the waters... seems i just had to wait for the BTC to come into acct btw! . .

also blacklig, what do you think of https://poloniex.com/exchange ?

Let's not get ahead of ourselves.  It will take a long time for something to pass bitcoin.  We all know the shortcomings of BTC, but there is a huge gap between BTC and LTC, and another big gap between LTC and the rest of the coins.

Until more people get in board with accepting alts, it's going to be hard to catch up.

I have a feeling that slow transactions will lead to people wanting something besides BTC.  Most people want security, but they sacrifice it for convenience.

Yeah, some people take it to a whole other level. Circlejerk Extreme.

I like the idea of Vertcoin, but that doesn't mean that Bitcoin and litecoin are bad and will die. I am also a Fan of dogecoin and hope it will succeed for small transactions.

Well cryptsy has been bad gateway all night, but coinedup has 83BTC on the buy side. 20 higher than same time last night, respectable.

Wow how I wish these exchanges would come into the 2012ish era.

Come join us on P2Pool! Pick one of the available public nodes close to your location here or start your own node if you want: https://github.com/donSchoe/p2pool-vtc

P2Pool is a distributed peer-to-peer pool, all nodes work together and the block rewards are shared based on the amount of shares submitted by each worker on every node on the network! Payouts are sent directly to your wallet once a block is found. You can read more at the p2pool wiki. Most of the usual questions and doubts about p2pool are addressed in this thread: A guide for mining efficiently on P2Pool, includes FUD repellent and FAQ

Join the fight against centralization!

Sent all my coins to cryptsy due to other exchanges not having enough volume... Cryptsy crashes 5min later. They really need to get things together.
