It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Waiting to see the coin on cryptsy... Don't like their website, invites middlecoin-esque pools, but it's an important step for the coins legitimacy!
We all just need to stand behind our coin  Smiley

As soon as it hits cryptsy the difficulty will skyrocket as the price will increase and multi pools get their teeth into it.

Not that I am against it of course, but I wouldn't mind another week or so's stocking up! Smiley

How do you create addresses without a wallet. It there an online tool like for bitcoin that works for digibyte?  Or does digibyte use the same hash methods as bitcoin or litecoin?

I think for now you need a wallet. DigiByte is using scrypt not the same as bitcoin. Please see first page or visit digibyte.co

DigiByte uses the Scrypt algorithm instead of SHA-256.

If you just need an address for temporary storage of a few coins, you could simply used https://CoinMarket.io they allow you to trade them for other currencies as well (if you want to). For mining or for large amounts of coins I'd definitely suggest installing a wallet locally and generating a personal address there.

Dev Team Update:

We are working hard on finishing the new user tutorials, promo video and upgrading the website /server. We are also still planning out the DGB exchange.

Once we have all that done and we are on a few more exchanges we are going to make a marketing push to attract new users and merchants.

We are thinking of utilizing the FaceBook ad service at first. Since they allow you to target specific demographics such as people who have "liked" bitcoin, or computers or some sort of investment page.

We figure for a few grand we could put the DigiByte logo and brand in front of a few million people.

What do you guys think?

Any suggestions for Ad's, slogans or hot points to attract new users? Or goal is to become a bridge to attract new users into the crypto world.

I believe Scrypt is used for Proof of Work but I'm pretty sure the addresses are still created using sha-256.  They do also start with a 'd'.

Something like https://github.com/litecoin-project/liteaddress.org shouldnt be that hard to modify. Something in javascript is likely the ideal solution because a hosted service would let the hoster see the private key. In javascript its all done locally.

Very interesting. The DigiByte addresses start with a "D" represented by a Base58 check encoding. https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Base58Check_encoding

In the source its defined at https://github.com/digibyte/DigiByteProject/blob/master/src/base58.h#L281

Exiting times ahead, I like where it is going.

Once the exchange is up I say spend as much as you can on Direct Marketing, FB-ad and Google ads. A referral program for the exchange will create even more traffic. Contests and lotteries always draws a crowd, we could host those on FB/Twitter while all the ads are out. Prices can be anything with the logo on it, or just dgb related stuff. Basically cheap effects you can buy on alibaba and ebay or vouchers, apps/services.

We could contact the people at btcclicks, bitvisitor and other PTC sites and ask for a discount on ads. All their viewers know what bitcoin is.

Make sure the wallet is foolproof before the big marketing effort (no sync issues, etc). It should have new design corresponding with the logo to differentiate us, just like WDC, MEC and PRT. This is IMO the most important thing, the client is the buffer between the user and the product.

Facebook ads is a great idea, Google ads would be an other solution too.
We could also add DigiByte to a platform like https://www.coinpayments.net/supported-coins or DigiByte Team could add this feature to their Exchange platform to help webmerchant to implement DigiByte as a Payment on their website.

Don't forget to vote on ThunderClap Keep going ---> https://www.thunderclap.it/projects/8206-digibyte?locale=en
If you have multiple accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr), use them all.
Multiple accounts = Multiple votes = More Social Reach
1 DAY TO GO! WE NEED 20 MORE VOTES !

Let's get DigiByte on Bter: Send an email to support@bter.com
Let's get DigiByte on CoinedUp: http://www.reddit.com/r/CoinedUp/comments/1v93k1/please_add_digibyte_dgb/
Let's get DigiByte on Cryptsy: https://cryptsy.freshdesk.com/support/discussions/topics/72581

This would be of much importance. Cover the Wordpress e-Commerce plugins (WooCommerce as #1) and you will attract large and constantly growing community.

Does the dev support gambling with Digibyte? Because I have a great game game that if the delivery is correct, it will give MUCH attention to Digibyte!AND BLOW IT THROW THE MOON!

Please check out this wiki site on what it is>> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dou_Dizhu
                                                              http://www.pagat.com/climbing/doudizhu.html
or simply google "doudizhu english tutorial" Smiley

-It is a card game similar to Big 2/ President but played with 3 players instead of 2. And the objective is to either win as a team of 2 "workers" or win as the "landlord". It is a very interesting game that, to my knowledge is not supported by ANY kind of cryto. Just imagine on the news and other huge exchanges casting attention on "the FIRST DouDiZhu game to be supported by crypto (DIGIBYTE!)".

It is a game that is EXTREMELY popular in China, I only wish I knew more about coding and could make a site but I don't so I wish someone can implement this idea, Digibyte can be used for so many things already, why not for gambling?

The creator of the site can take make 0.XX% of the win per game or if the dev can put support behind it, why not make a section of gaming that takes a % of each win as fee and revenues be used towards maintaining the site itself as well as the Digibyte foundation?
I would love to see Digibyte succeed as the devs are extremely active and they put their heart into this coin of the future.

The game has to have a clean layout with at least Chinese/English interface (or even other languages as it is a simple game involving cards). If anyone have questions about how the game is played or anything in general, feel free to send me PM.

Don't say anything negative about the business who we are asking for their services.

Will continue to say I dislike their website until it gets changed to be far less cluttered. Middlecoin-like mining pools will pop up around any exchange with an auto-sell function, so it's just a natural part of the growing pains any new currency will face upon reaching an exchange that has autosell functions.

I'm not going to pull punches just because it's cryptsy Tongue
Why should we have to kiss rear to get on an exchange? We have community and speed. We got pretty good Hashrate behind us for our age as well.
People have shown they want the coin on the exchange, so Big Vern is looking into adding it.

Now then, waiting for it to hit cryptsy...  Grin
