"Soon" would be in the next 1-3 years or so.

One of the biggest dangers for BTC is something more useful coming along and investors switching - a process which could happen extremely fast, once started.

So to all the tech savy people in here - what advantages could other cryptocurrencies bring that will give them a crucial edge over BTC, and how fast could something like that come along?
Well technically it will take years for something to replaced bitcoin currency. Bitcoin is not just bitcoin, there's always something more, besides of fast process in bitcoin, it can also make your life wealthy and one of the best advantages of bitcoin is when the value goes down it will go up at the end.

I do not think that there will be replacing bitcoin any time soon. Bitcoin has been very strong and it's hard to replace it or beat it. So in the near future bitcoin will not be replaced. If you think that bitcoin will be replaced then the greatest chance is ethereum. Because ethereum has great potential also in cryptocurrency besides bitcoin. However I do not see that this will be replaced in the near future.

To be able to replace the bitcoin I think this is very hard because the current bitcoin value is too high. To do this, it takes at least 5 more years.

it can be replaced with ETH or bitcoin cash. I know bitcoin is the number one currency and mother of all alt coins but we should not forget second and third coins which are Eth and bitcoin cash. Both currencies have the huge stamina and they're increasing more than bitcoin since BTC is losing its price I don't have any idea why it dumping but if you look at eth and bitcoin cash they're going up if the things happen of 1 year I can bitcoin not only replace but it can vanish.

I'm not sure there will be another cryptocurrency that can replace bitcoin, although it is possible that it could happen. But Bitcoin is too strong and public confidence in bitcoin is very high, besides the bitcoin price is still higher than the other cryptocurrency. So for the next few years I'm sure there is no cryptocurrency that can replace bitcoin, and if it turns out there can replace bitcoin and can give hope to get big advantage as given by bitcoin, then I will also support it by investing in it Smiley
Nothing is really impossible in this world that we live, There are some brands that some people thought would remain forever but that isn't the case anymore. The possibility that Bitcoin is going to be eventually replaced is possible in the near future.

No one can say for sure, but I hope that bitcoin will still remain the leader among crypto-currencies. It never ceases to evolve and improve, and it gives me hope.

In the short or medium term I find it virtually impossible for this change to occur. And I have serious doubts if this can happen in the long run. Bitcoin will have a long reign ahead.

Yes i believe something out there is better is being prepared for. It may be in the market of cryptocurrency already but not well known yet. As many cryptocurrency emerge, there’s always someone better that comes out and it may even be the best, but this is something we don’t know yet. In my opinion the volatility of bitcoin is something to be considered one of the difference with others.

Yes its possible that something better replace bitcoin, but not soon. As we can see, our technology is upgrading, so i believe that someone will create better crypto currency than bitcoin in the future. But i dont see that other crypto currency existed today can replace bitcoin, they will be popular like bitcoin, but they cant replace bitcoin. If someone created cryto currency that is not based on bitcoin, that might become the bitcoin competitor and might replace bitcoin.

You guys should look at the date of the post, 4 years ago who even bumps these posts. Anyway, I like how they thought some altcoins could overpass Bitcoin. And they still make these kind of posts and we will again be laughing at them in 2020. This community just goes on in a circle, Bitcoin is dead, Bitcoin will be replaced etc.

Yes. 2014-2018. Many things happen. At least this kind of post can open the eyes of crypto enthusiasts that nothing is impossible in the world of cryptocurrency based on digital technology. Including Bitcoin, it is not impossible to be replaced by another crypto in the future.

I still don’t think that there is as such competition of bitcoin and I strongly believe that bitcoin is superior of all crypto currencies and bitcoin has always proved this thing also, the market demand, the number of investors of bitcoin, the valuation and bitcoin and other statistics of bitcoin is very very high in comparison to all other crypto currencies but still if we closely look at the statistics then we can say that after bitcoin yes, etherum is the coin which the second most successful crypto currency.

how could you consider that something is better than other one? by price? by reputation ? by type of investment? . the question is too broad but if you are referring to the price , it might be possible that there will be a token or coin who can surpass the price of bitcoin but there will be no coin who can affect other coin as much as bitcoin did. if by reputation , I do not think that there will be a coin as of now who can surpass the reputation that bitcoin have right now, and if by investment , there are many types of investment , high risk and low risk investment so I can say that there might be some investment who has great potential than bitcoin .

I think bitcoin can be replace with others coin. If central banks issuing their own cryptocurrency, i am believe bitcoin domination in market will reduce sharply. Its about investor trust and until now, bitcoin provide that trust

Everything that we’re looking for in an alternative currency can be found in bitcoin. Now that most of online casinos and other business owners are starting to accept it, I don’t think they will accept new one soon, if ever there will be.

Already now there are several cryptocurrencies, which are probably more promising than BTC.

However, I can not say that they will soon replace it. Not exactly in the next 5 years

There are so many cryptocurrencies that compete with Bitcoin, but until now I have not found cryptocurrency that can beat Bitcoin.
Etherium, doge, NXT, Monero etc. they remain under Bitcoin.

You are definitely right about that. So I think the chances are low for the bitcoin to be replace because as of now there is no cryptocurrency that can beat bitcoin.

As of now, bitcoin remains to be the most dominant and powerful cryptocurrencies in the cryptoworld in terms of its usage, market capitalization, and price. I don't think there's a cryptocurrency that can even give a real challenge to bitcoin's supremacy. But if there will be a crypto that can still be processed in the blockchain even if it's offline, then i think it can be a crypto that can be a threat to bitcoin.
