About adult Content on Bitmit.

I wanted to show bitmit to my family the other day, but then I remember some of the adult content on there.
They would find that offensive. I'm sure there are many other potential/future customers that may also find it offensive.
Today, a lot of dildos for sale.

It would be nice if all this was buried a layer. Maybe only those posts show up after an account is made and then the user specifically disabled a "filter". Or some other mechanism. I've put a lot of stuff for real cheap to help promote the site and bitcoin, but I now hesitate to refer people to the site.

Please consider.
+1
If you could just make it so this didn't show right up on the main screen then I would feel ok recommending this site to others. I like this site and like using it, but it really needs to at least have this done.

hi there!  sorry for all the cocks in the face  Grin!  Srsly tho, we hope to find our niche with in the community, and its our hope us sex positive toy and education merchants wont be among the shunned.  This being said, I think keeping the front page as a safe place for the innocent is certainly fair Cheesy.

In any case Looks like bitMit has heeded your requests and Images from teh erotic section are now censored on the front page(unless logged in).  BitMit rocks! Kiss

Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

@allten,tgmarks

Yeah, you are right guys. Hope my solution does fit your needs: From now on thumbnails from adult items are censored on the start page.

If you do not want to see such items on the whole page, you can go to your user Settings->Misc and deactivate "Show adult content".

@Global BTC
Yeah that is because the user has marked it as received. I think it is ok to allow that even the sender hasnt set it as shipped.

The minimum bid bug is fixed. Now you can also bid for the start price.

PS: Today a crazy user has bought random stuff whereby we had to delete his orders. To prevent further abuses we have implemented counter-measures.

That explains why a sold order dissapeared.

Thanks for the updates regarding adult content.
That helps a lot. Now I can get back to work with my kids around Smiley

I got a notice today that one of my items sold, but there's not record of it anywhere.
Do you know what may have happened?

What's the general procedure for an item selling, but the buyer never came through?
It would be nice to be able to remove those items or relist them.

Thanks

I second that. It would also be nice if a partially paid order could be marked as paid or had a special icon in the list.

I noticed the adult stuff is back, but with the pictures censored.
Trying to appease both markets is understandable; however,
the amount of adult stuff almost fills the entire front page.

It would be nice if there was a single item entry for adult content instead of multiples (it could even be stickied on the top) that would have a generic description for adult content. Once it is clicked on, a warning message box pops up and then everything including adult content loads up.
Many may find it annoying to have to scroll past a barrage of adult material even with it partially censored.

Also, it would be nice for those starting new accounts to have adult content censored by default instead of the other way around.

thanks for your service. I'm excited for its continued development.

I have the "show adult content" unchecked under my settings and I can't see any of it even if I click on the erotic sections.  Seems to work great for me.

Found a bug. When I post a picture that is extremely small (my mistake) like the ones used for icons then I cannot remove them.
It shows the red X, but it disappears when I try to click on it.

Update: it's the listing for the mag light flashlight.

You can cancel the order by clicking "Trouble-shooting"->"Cancel order". After 7 days it will disappear from your sell overview.

Okay, thanks for your steady feedback and support, guys Smiley Today I am running out of time but I wrote your suggestions down.

Thing to fix:

When I Click on "My Orders" when an order is in shipment, and I hold my mouse over the picture of the package on the right, the popup text says "Item shipped: 1970-01-01 1:00 AM"

Suggestion: Add a "Items Wanted" section.
edit: Second suggestion: There should be a "Preview Auction" option so you can see what it looks like before you list it.

Do not waste your time debating whether Bitcoin can work. It does work.

"Early adopters will profit" is not a sufficient condition to classify something as a pyramid or Ponzi scheme. If it was, Apple and Microsoft stock are Ponzi schemes.

There is no such thing as "market manipulation." There is only buying and selling.

Hello,

so I am surfing around and have found an article from a german newspaper,
and they link to bitmit. But they forgot a / at the end so the link ends in a 404 Sad

Code:
https://www.taz.de/Bitcoin-Leitfaden/!92086/

would be cool if you could make this "http://bitmit.net/de", work like this "http://bitmit.net/de/"

Also it would be nice if there was a qrcode on the page where you do the payment, for people with smartphone wallets.

@nomnomnom, Thank you for the hint! Very cool =)

@ barbarousrelic
Bug fixed. Item wanted is already planned Smiley

In order to get the stone rolling and to allow a consistent further development of Bitmit we will raise the fee to 1,9% on 01 March 2012. For comparison: Amazon Fee 7%+, eBay Fee 9%+ ....

Our goal is to provide a shopping platform that makes it easy for individuals and professionell sellers (codeword user shops) to sell and buy goods by using Bitcoin as currency. And when it is going to be profitable it is a win situation for all of us. E.g. we can help to figure out the legal situation of Bitcoin in various countries and to do some pioneer work for further Bitcoin related businesses . So far I can spend the earned coins on some beers for I dont want to know how much hours of work. Therefore I think 1,9% is a fair commission Smiley

New feature: Multi currency support. Now you are able to couple your item prices and to display all Bitcoin prices in about 30 different currencies. Just hover the Bitcoin Exchange rate on left hand upper corner. Alternatively select one in Settings -> Misc.

If you miss a currency, just me know.

In my auction it says under shipping costs: "   United States: 0.1 BTC (Free shipping)"  But .1 BTC is not free shipping.

Do not waste your time debating whether Bitcoin can work. It does work.

Hello,

there seems to be a problem on the page where you can view/send privatemessages,
if I go here https://bitmit.net/de/msg/inbox, I only get an almost empty page with error message:

Code:
Fatal error:  Call to undefined function  htmlimgflagurl() in /home/secureco/public_html/bitmit.net/global_functions.php on line 335

@barbarousrelic, it is because "Free shipping" is the default shipping description you have not changed it. However, I removed it manually.

@nomnomnom, Bug fixed, thx

New: QR-Code on order page

Did my first purchase on bitmit today. Excellent site.
Two suggestions for improvement:
  • When registering using safari on my iPhone the form looses focus after displaying the keyboard for about 1 second. This is not a problem on an iPad, probably due to higher resolution.
  • When paying using the aforementioned QR-code there is a bug. The bitcoin URI starts with a capital B, it should be a lower case b. Therefore I could not pay with BitcoinSpinner without creating a new QE-code.

Please fix especially the second item.

Mycelium let's you hold your private keys private.
