Hope that helps.

I meant the bars in the middle row. Or do they determine their color the same way as the candlestick graphs bars?  Embarrassed

sorry, i honestly thought you were making a joke there.

Yes I know how the candle sticks work, just didn't realize the middle row bar colors work the same way. Sad

Same way.
Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

 Video !!!

 A kick-ass, 1.5 - 3 minutes video!!
I vote for a crowd funded video that explains perfectly what DRK is all about!

Like this, which was exactly what made me take BTC seriously when i first saw it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Um63OQz3bjo&spfreload=10

I don't think that Darkcoin can be explained in a 1.5 - 3 minute video.

Contrary to the Bitcoin video, Darkcoin would need more in-depth-explaining.

WHY is anonymity better than transparency?
WHY is a transaction time of 10 sec better than 10 min?
The role masternodes play in all of this...
What is Darksend, etc...
We have so many additional things we would have to explain ON TOP of the basic cryptocurrency principle.

So it really matters if you want to see a video that speaks to people who already own cryptocurrencies, or a video that speaks to complete newbies...
Two different things!

i like that YouTube video a lot, easy to understand for everyone. I wouldnt mind seeing a bounty set for it so we can use it when we are further into the
marketing campaign (which hasnt really been started yet in fullness, at least not in my eyes)

i like this comment :

''Errr... Darkcoin over Tor is the preferred payment on Dark-market sites... but ya I can see your point when a mil in BTC has been nabbed.... where's the DarkCoin ?''

(that comment was a reacton on comment : ''This is theft, by the Government.'')

What is that?

i think its artificial intelligence trying to communicate to us .. we should try to communicate back to it.

edit : oh my.. it could be red 0 green 1, which makes it : 10101001101101110

i have some bad news, i just decoded the message and it says something about Earth getting destroyed to make room
for some galactic highway  Shocked it says to visit your local planoffice for more info ? Huh  anyone knows where it is ?

Can confirm. Skynet has awoken and joined forces with the Vogons. Earth is toast unless we send the Skynet shutdown signal and Vogon poetic appreciation code, both of which, coincidentally, are 42 tall green candles in a row.

WANTED: Active dev to fix & re-write p2pool in C

Any idea what could be crowdfunded next?  Roll Eyes

Mandatory use of p2pool. Darkcoin is not currently a decentralised currency, neither are most PoW coins.

Pin number or passphrase required before the wallet displays your balance and transaction history to any passing vagabond.

I like that idea. here was my proposal back in April, didnt get much attention though... trolljaxs can choke on this.

https://darkcointalk.org/threads/masternode-donation-to-p2pool.326/

I'm not against the idea of incentivising p2pool use financially somehow, it would help, but making it mandatory somehow at a protocol level would be better.

Existing centralised pool owners could run p2pool nodes instead, use the same hardware, make the same percentage, just run different software that actually helped secure the blockchain instead of doing the opposite.

Not sure if it should be mandatory to use p2pool, more a case of educating the masses. I have only ever used p2pool with my crypto mining, if the coin isn't p2pool friendly, I won't mine it. Unfortunately, p2pool has outgrown python & it's crying out to be written in a faster, multithreaded code (C/++?) - the p2pool dev hasn't done much to it for the last year tbh - but hopefully it will just be a matter of time before someone has the time/incentive to do it.

Truly decentralized mining is imperative for a truly decentralised currency - p2pool is the only software that can achieve this - they are, literally, made for each other..... Grin Wink

Yeah, it was on there. All one would need to do is push the masternode ip address through a dns search such as http://www.whoishostingthis.com/ and it will tell you who the provider is. Then just chart the results.

Evan : can you please update page 1 with regards to the following Masternode link

◦Masternode Status 2 : https://drk.mn/masternodes.htm

should be

◦Masternode Status 2 : https://drk.mn/masternodes.html

and maybe its better to clean up the not-working links from Chaeplin there untill we have some
working links again ?

which is the best Dark buy site .

personally i buy bitcoin from a local bitcoin site in my country and then transfer it to an exchange
where you can buy Darkcoins from it. Then transfer the Darkcoins back into my local Darkcoin wallet.

Couple good exchanges :

Bitfinex
Cryptsy

make sure you activate two-way factor authentication on yr exchange account, make sure you encrypt your local darkcoin wallet and choose a strong
passphrase and make sure you make plenty of backups !!

Since you are now running and paying a 24/7 linux server on Vultr, where there are no limitations on CPU usage, you should also use it for darkcoin mining... I suggest you read this nice guide, put together by TantaStefana.

Hello! Is it safe to run minerd on my vps? What port will it use? How many DRK should I expect to mine?

In summary, the Intel Management Engine and its applications are a backdoor with total access to and control over the rest of the PC. The ME is a threat to freedom, security, and privacy, and the libreboot project strongly recommends avoiding it entirely. Since recent versions of it can’t be removed, this means avoiding all recent generations of Intel hardware. details https://libreboot.org/faq.html#intelme --- https://tehnoetic.com/laptops --- https://store.vikings.net/x200-ryf-certfied

Taking the first ip address from drk.mn, you could grep the site data http://whois.domaintools.com/104.131.138.77 by excluding the :9999 and appending it to the end of the domain, then getting the information from there. Might be a better way, but it's a start. I haven't seen an api yet, then again, I just did a quick look.

Just found this one

Masternode Count Graph ! (updates every full hour)
https://darkcointalk.org/threads/number-of-available-masternodes-graph.2992/

Edit : this has nothing to do with the Masternodes per provider .. just came across it on reddit.

Python does multithreading just fine, but if bits of it need to be optimised in C then that's fine by me. Smiley  I think it's something worthwhile, and fundamental, for The Foundation or crowdfunding efforts to tackle, and certainly more important than giving the qt wallet a paintjob, although no reason both can't be accomplished in parallel.

I don't think educating the masses is going to work, given that by and large they are, let's be honest, a bunch of lazy fucks who don't care.

Have Masternodes verify p2pool nodes via privkeys, same as they verify each other, accept blocks from verified p2pool nodes only, and reject everything else. We'd actually have the decentralised currency we've been falsely claiming to have. Another first for Darkcoin: the only usefully decentralised PoW currency.
