If you cared about the security of the blockchain, you wouldn't be running a centralised pool.

That's not exactly true.

Either no one should run a pool, or as many people as possible should run a pool.

Running a pool must be prevented in the protocol level for the former to happen, so as long as running a pool is possible, it's actually better the more people run one.
Pool?

Did someone said pool?

With p2pool, everyone mines to his own DRK address directly.
There is no database and no periodic payouts based on information in a database, as is the case with central pools.

A miner gets payout as soon as a block is solved. No third party involved.

And you can chose any of the p2pool nodes (usually the one that is network wise the nearest, with lowest latency) to connect to.

I think I get that (but maybe not), but could not a private pool feed the output of its database to the p2pool, recieve the reward from p2pool, and distribute it according to the contents of its database?  Again, I am way out of my depth, and have no idea what I am talking about. :-(

Don't think it would be possible (but again, I am not a programmer), as p2pool hands work tasks to the miner directly, and you can't feed it with solved blocks.

p2pool node --> work sent to miner, miner solves --> sends back to p2pool node.
The node communicates directly with the wallet daemon, so is directly connected to the network.

Lol you're talking as if I could just decided and start forking the network..

You could, or you could be coerced into doing so, or for example some employee at the datacentre could be bribed into restarting your pool servers with malicious code replacing your existing code, etc.

Are you aware you need at LEAST 51% to do that? Are you aware that i'm nowhere near that 50%?

You are wrong. Less that 51% still causes problems, >51% just guarantees success.

If anything, we help the darkcoin blockchain stay strong against 40gh/s hammers moving around such as waffle and god knows what other pools (the unknowns). I doubt its the p2pool at 1% of the hash who will protect it from any fork.

As of right now, we have a use wether you like it or not.

I have never questioned your personal integrity, I am merely pointing out your vulnerability, which is a vulnerability to everyone who owns DRK.

You can keep whining, this won't make us go away nor help your cause. In society, you sometimes have to work with other peoples towards greater good, which you're not.

You and moli can keep bitching about me all day long on IRC, ditto. Wink

You're biting the hand that feeds you at the moment, yet again.

You don't feed anyone but yourself. If you cared about the security of the blockchain, you wouldn't be running a centralised pool.

None of your points stands yet because since the beginning we have been supportive and complying with the darkcoin community to all extents. If you are to pick a target, at LEAST pick up some that is not trustworthy or not cooperating as much as they should be. We're always one of the fastest, if not the fastest pool to upgrade it's daemons at every update.

I don't think my point has been understood by you, much less addressed. You are in denial about the basic risk that you pose to the network.

Edit; crouton you the almighty, why don't you just come up with the code to make the standard pools p2pool? I'm all ears, bring it we'll try it Smiley

Here you go: https://bitbucket.org/dstorm/p2pool-drk.git Grin  - let me know when you're done, I'll point my rigs your way.

I know very well you can't be satistisfied, hence I won't be loosing my time trying. It's just not worth it. If I do it myself, it'll be because I have the time to and the will, not because you dictate me to do so.

I am not in denial, just there is worse things to attend for now. Like that darksend flaw, for example.

And I don't feed anyone but myself? You gotta be joking right? lol. You're just full of it, I am not interested in dealing with your kind of people. I have had other members contacting me privately to talk about solution, and I am fully happy to discuss with them. With you, it's kind of one sided and you're close minded, hence we won't ever reach agreement.

Stop having me loose my time with your rants, you remind me of Alex Jones.

I welcome anybody (as long as its not a crouton sock puppet account!) to come discuss with me possible solutions and ideas to make mining better. I am opened to suggestions and help to integrate a peer to peer approach to the pool, I am just not willing to do it just because seniorita crouton orders me to Smiley

In greater words, get lost crouton. To the rest of the community, your suggestions are very welcomed! I'm not the ruthless poolop that crouton claims I am.

EDIT: Hey crouton, by the way.. it's hosted by ourself in our own cabinet with our own feeds.. At the ISP where I work at.. so that employee at the datacenter? It's me. Wink

I honestly don't think that's why DRK dropped again.  I think it's because BTC took off.  If you look at the price dollar/dark, we're still over $2.50 which is a huge increase over last week (though the btc/drk price looks like it's only a little up)

Ultimately, I think the reason we're not moving now is because of the excitement at BTC taking all the thunder.

BTW, can someone clarify this once and for all:
is it called Instant TX or InstantX?

Threadtitle and I says Instant TX...
but most people (even evan) often says InstantX.

What gives?  Tongue

a bird told me today that the 2 T's (instantTx) are fused to a single one.

i'am also ok with instant TX.
my logo series so far:

Nice! I like them all.
I think we are still looking for a symbol of a masternode.
Any ideas?
logo symbol. my first try was that:

but didn't find a way to make a series out of that.
I like that, just shorten it, Stack Master on top of node!

I like where you are going with this, imo these are the best so far. Clean, flat and modern...I dont know if lines joining each "node" together would give the user the sense of them being connected (or it might ruin it by making it too busy).

All in all, good job man.

Agree, I think the darksend issue - which is not a biggy, its standard in software development to be continually updating. Also Darkcoin is looking to pioneer and lead, there will be issues...

I think its steadied now at this level and will head off again soon.... As per above BTC has also taken some of the limelight, but as others have said, this is good, as some of those BTC will find there way here.

@lonecrouton, having only masternodes will highly centralize dark. There is thousands of miners, vs a thousand and some masternodes. Centralisation.

You are a fucking moron.

(In case anyone is unaware, louiseth1 is one of those 3 people, running suchpool.)

I'm so happy I dumped this DRK crap a long time ago  Smiley
