Hi m8s. I think That Otoh is not the living wall, but living LEGEND. Not because he is clever and know how to make money,( he is owner of maybe 200 000 drk,and with his actions lately he doubled his value in btc and usd.) , but because he is doing what he claim. Just imagine how many ppl you know irl,that are standing behind their words? I am 37 years old and when i start to count i did not reach 5!!!!!

He sure is, he is equivalent to trust in DRK , with him more and more people start to trust.
As at this moment its mainly DRK insiders on the exchanges at the moment with this walking wall we can take a relax "walk" ( because insiders are not planning to sell at that level ) until the moment the big crowd picks up and takes over.
Im no bag holder, just managed to reach 1000 , but great to be part of this project

 So I set up a new new node from a very cheap (but good spec!) deal out of lowendbox.com.

10€/year, and it come with 1GB of ram, coolness... but as we all know, darkcoind is a RAM nazi, no matter how big or small. So I did the usua procedure to add swap

dd if=/dev/zero of=/swapfile bs=1M count=1024
mkswap /swapfile

but...

swapon: /swapfile: swapon failed: Operation not permitted

Now... I am as root. Didn't bother creating a user (should I really, I mean, this is cold.remote setup)

doing this next line returns nothing

blkid | grep swap

but

root@cryptogroff:~# free -m
             total       used       free     shared    buffers     cached
Mem:          1024         31        992          3          0         25
-/+ buffers/cache:          5       1018
Swap:         1024          0       1024

and

swapon -s
Filename            Type      Size   Used   Priority

So swap is there but does not seem to be active. I'm a bit lost here, any takers?

You've created a swapfile on /dev/null

Most probably you accidentally swapped the "if" and "of" part of dd.

BTW, some VPS providers FORBIT swap (to sell higher priced packages) and when you try it weird things happen.

Yeah, seems to be a provider restricition. Its Ubuntu 14.04 minimal.  I dont think I did that crowning,

dd if=/dev/zero of=/swapfile bs=1M count=1024
mkswap /swapfile
swapon /swapfile: Operation not permitted

and added to etc/fstab
/swapfile  swap      swap    defaults        0 0

yah, lets not make this a speculation thread please. Hope he is well, he was very well intended and worked hard on DRK's fork. Maybe he could even have contributed something useful for us.

 I just mentioned because its a crash going on, and people are loosing money, many darkcoiners also wanted SPR masternodes. Not me, but many cool DRK guys are also cool SPR guys and dont deserve this.
