Someone just sent me an email because he was looking for a Thunderbird alternative and found Claws Mail. When checking the donations page he found: paypal, bitcoin and dash It is really nice when you find dash in unexpected places, so I just sent them a couple coins because their donations address was still unused. I will probably test the software too, it looks really good. http://www.claws-mail.org/sponsors.php?section=community

It came up for me I thought you retired to the Philippines or something like that? LOL. Thanks, Tante. Now I have to figure out why it comes up in some circumstances and not others. The only thing I changed was the VPN addy. I'll post if I figure it out. Any thoughts on the Swedish story? Edit: Update - the LAHT link works for at least one of my VPN's US sites, so it is NOT a country-banning issue. Actual issue still unknown though. I've updated the original post. Sorry for the hassle! Edit: Update again - this is really getting goofy. I just tried a VPN addy in Toronto, Canada and it yields "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.laht.com." - so "some they do and some they don't and some you just can't tell" as the old song says. Edit: Last one, I promise. It works from a VPN addy in France. I'll just chalk it up as one of life's little mysteries.

.. Or is my tinfoil hat on too tight?
Not tight enough. I always worry about myopia, on any project. The answer to watering down the impact of altcoins on BTC is side chains. Side chains have the potential to propel Bitcoin further without side chains. Without altcoins there would be no side chains. Loop that for a while

.. Or is my tinfoil hat on too tight?
Not tight enough. I always worry about myopia, on any project. The answer to watering down the impact of altcoins on BTC is side chains. Side chains have the potential to propel Bitcoin further without side chains. Without altcoins there would be no side chains. Loop that for a while I think sidechains have a serious incentive issue, they may use merged mining, but is still a separate network and code that would require a lot of work but has no associated token of its own like an altcoin. We already have things like Mastercoin or Counterparty that allow you to do additional things over the Bitcoin blockchain the only difference would be the fact that Sidechains are two-way pegged, which means the token on the Sidechain has no speculative value, it presumes that people will code and do complex work and maintain it without the possibility of price appreciation like the one you can expect on a successful alternative blockchain. Also, the community or group behind the sidechain have no control over the mining of that chain which puts them in a funny position from a consensus perspective. Because of this, I feel developing a commercially viable Sidechain would have to be a private endeavor requiring funding, centralization and a business model that is based only on fees you could charge for the services the Sidechain offers. I feel is a much more restrictive model and it will have to compete with alternative chains. Anyway, I feel is really good for Sidechains to be a real technical possibility so as to demystify the apparent Damocles sword hanging over alternative chains, I think we are going to realize that Sidechains is just going to be one more element in the ecosystem a tool for private companies to use, we may see a Bitpay sidechain just as an example, but not much will change in the altcoin space. The ecosystem still needs redundancy and competition from completely separate networks, protocol centralization around Bitcoin is not good for anyone. One day we will have separate competing networks like Visa, Mastercard, etc. Not just one Visa with a bunch of subsidiaries depending on the same infrastructure.

Some sunday afternoon listening. Dr Jim Willie says the eastern elites are sick of the psychopath western elites destroying the planet through War/fracking/GM/..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nW6M4C22E20Also that the Russians and Chinese no longer use the dollar to trade in oil and soon they will trade directly with Saudi Arabia using 'gold trade notes' as they switch over to gold in step increments from the renminbi (during the demise of treasury notes-while dumping them)

Dash is 27.3 times faster with syncing and updating than Bitcoin and 93.7 times faster than Monero. Bitcoin (v0.11.0) has a Tao ratio 11.2% faster than bitcoin (v0.10.0) release. Dash (v.0.12.0.49) = Tao sync ratio = 0.15 seconds / hour of update || Dash (v.0.11.2.23) = Tao sync ratio = 0.24 seconds / hour of update. V12 versus V11 speedup = +36.5% Bitcoin (v.0.11.0) = Tao sync ratio = 4.14 seconds / hour of update || Monero (v.0.41.1) = Tao sync ratio = 14.2 seconds / hour of update

Can anyone remind who did that very cool animate gif during the rebrand, when the "C" in "Cash" starts spinning and the Dash "D" appears?
Hey, I've not been on here for a while and catching up when I saw your post. Sorry for the late reply but to answer your question, I created the animated gif :-)

You mean like this one ? Very interesting and thoughtful post b.t.w. Amazing listening to that guy. The depth of analysis he goes to blows any mainstream commentator I've ever seen OUT....OF.....THE....WATER. He's also pretty consistent through the years.

Don't won't to off topic too much, am figure its all connected and makes the thread more interesting, and he tells a great story I would say hes been about 98% accurate during the 4 or 5 years I've been following him and hes just starting to cast his eye towards cryptocurrencies which should be interesting. ('we treated Japan to Fukushima...we installed Shinzo Abe, US tool micro leader fool...voter fraud...' )
