I'm still pretty much a noob to mining, but have successfully mined other coins.  I'm having a bit of a problem with GPU mining this one. I've downloaded the GPU miner from the darkcoin website, but get errors on two different AMD machines:

sgminer.exe --kernel darkcoin -o stratum+tcp://pool.darkcoin.io:3333 -u u1-p p1

Error -11: Building Program (clBuildProgram)
Error compiling program for search.
Frontend phase failed compilation.
Error: Creating kernerl search failed!

Failed to init GPU thread 0, disabling device 0...

I've also tried regular SGMINER and they all get rejected.  I did get the CPU miner working at about 100KH/s, which I guess is decent.

Also, just curious, if this thing is ASIC resistant, what kind of rig is getting 140MH/s?

Any help would be appreciated.

Try --no-adl and always with the modified sgminer (cgminer and standard sgminer wont work).

As for the 140 MHs, it can be achieved with ~60-70 GPUs (290).

Are u running Catalyst 13.12 or later?
Uninstall driver (using CCC uninstaller) and install driver from  to 13.11 beta95

http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/amd_catalyst_13_11_beta_9_5_driver_download,2.html

Same thing happened to me, see https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg5209581#msg5209581

Yes, I believe one is 13.15 and one is 13.13.  I will give that a try.  Though I thought I read on here someone else suggested to get the latest BETA and try that.  Thanks for the help and link.

My graphics cards love darkcoin. They run 25c cooler. LMAO  Grin

I really think we need to make the mining community aware of this.

Im totally failing at GPU mining. Can someone help me out/toss me a bone?

I'm using SGMiner and I'm not registering hash at any of the darkcoin pools I've tried.

I downgraded my catalyst drivers as mentioned in one of the earlier sections. That significantly grounded my hash rates, which made me think it worked, but I'm not registering anything with the pools..

Am I still doing something wrong here?
Still no help about HW errors Huh I even tried the latest driver versions.. but that caused two of my 6 cards to not work, and sgminer wouldn't start.. rolling back to my previous driver that allowed all 6 gpus to work..

you need to use the miners posted on the first page because of our unique algorithms.  this is the same for cpu mining Smiley

Mine too and they draw a lot less power too.

Current Difficulty    140.4987857 WOW Looks like the big GPU farm guys are starting to get into the game.

This guy is number one on the official pool:
1       zyxy123    144,004    494.844

That is a lot of hashing power!!

My graphics cards love darkcoin. They run 25c cooler. LMAO  Grin

I wonder if he is holding most of them? I know he has a much higher over-head costs than my 8 gpus.

Maybe, maybe he is the one that keeps selling and bringing down the price now and then, his loss, the coins that he is selling now will be worth 50x more in a couple of months.

This isn't a coin we need to hype.  We're letting the qualities of the coin and the developers speak for itself.  Word will get around on its own.  Most of us are in this for the long term, not pump and dump like most coins as we understand what we have here.

I doubt it. I'm mining at 103 MH/s and they're going right to my wallet. If he was mining to sell, there are much more profitable coins out there right now.

I understand and agree with you but VTC had good tech and they were also and they have been forgotten about, a little hype is needed for a coins survival, what's to stop another coin coming along like this with a better marketing strategy and just taking the spotlight.

Vert has nice developers and asic resistance is good I guess but what does the coin bring me as a user?

I'd like to thank eduffield and the other developers for this critically important evolution in virtual currency. DarkCoin is what bitcoin should have been. Some might call it "Bitcoin 2.0" but would do better by saying: "DarkCoin is digital cash." - Child Harold - February 28, 2014

Completely agree and that's true but it's not the point I'm making, just because a coin has decent tech doesn't mean it's going to survive, Doge is just a clone and that's getting thousands of people daily because of hype. I do think this coin is a likely contender for top 5 cryptos but people need to know about it and there needs to be a little hype.

There is a reverse psychology effect when you promote a coin (and especially if you are doing it aggressively or shoving it which is totally the wrong way). People think you are trying to scam them to buy in in a pyramid scheme where you'll dump your coins on them. On the other hand, people will value what they themselves assessed as something that is worthy of their time, mining efforts or money (as investors).
