I Just released a GPU (openCL) miner for MTC. If anyone cares to test. Performance is not great though. I did it just so we have something to do with our GPUs while iddle."

Every since I've been mining Darkcoin with GPUs, my mining room has been 20 degrees cooler. We should really get the word out on this, it's a huge benefit.

On that day not much GPU activity occured. The next day there was a substantial increase in hashrate but the difficulty elevated significantly after 2+ post GPU-client launch. At the same time with the GPU miner launch however there was also an updated cpuminer (1.3c) which enabled AES/AVX acceleration giving further speed improvement.

And for the poster prior to that, the price didn't go down post-GPU. It went from 0.00047 to 0.0020+, over 4 times higher.

Can't imagine why people are selling DRK this close to anonymous DarkSend being implemented. I guess ppl don't have much patience. Oh well, more cheap coins to stock up on!

I wouldn't call us an underdog.  I'd call us a 1st round draft pick currently in the minor leagues building up our skill set.  Once we prove we can hit, we'll be in the major leagues making the big bucks with tons of groupies to choose from.

It's a benefit for as long as we all have the same GPU client because we are all saving electricity costs. If someone manages to tweak it and get 2x performance (if the gpu is not fully pressured then there is always room for improvement), then we'll have a problem.

-If he keeps it for own use = problem for the rest because he has a 2x advantage in mining.
-If everyone has it = problem for our electric bills

I think for cryptocurrencies in general it would be a huge benefit (both environmentally and allowing a more diverse group of people to mine it) to have an algorithm that is setup in a way that is so inefficient that it doesnt allow a GPU to run at 100% heat output all the time while still achieving maximum performance for the given task at hand.

I LOVE how cool the cards run for GPU mining with x11. I honestly feel it WILL be a game changer for those considering whether to mine or not come summer time.

As someone in an area that currently has 6ft tall snowbanks outside, this is actually a bad thing right now, as I can't depend on gpus to heat my place.

Try this: Open an instance of drk sgminer and another of an scrypt cgminer of some other coin and then play around with their intensities to prioritize the hashrate (and by extension control the temps higher).
