Guys, I am having trouble getting this to connect for solo-mining...

I put the standard ' -conf=sdarkcoin.conf' in my shortcut to the wallet, but it does not seem to actually use the custom conf file...

Eg, I set the port an user and pass... but since it isn't reading it, it does not let it connect.

What is the default conf file it is expecting, I will just rename the file to that.

Been watching this thread for a long while - have my share of DRK - am excited.

Wanted to add some positive comments - I feel that the community here is really starting to build up all the pieces necessary to make this a success.
As we all know - it's not just the coin's tech - the tech behind it will give it its long term value - but it's the rest of the community that will support its development and give it value in the short term.

I myself have a good computer science and security background - but remember - most people won't understand what is under the hood at all - so the community needs to present this information in an easy to obtain and understand manner - so that the community can grow beyond just people who understand the tech behind the coin (not that it hasn't - but I'm talking long term growth and full adoption here - most people won't understand - but in the long term we want them to use the coin).

There have been some good developments in that area lately - ex. the posting to the main page about the key differences between Darkcoin and Zerocoin - and I think we need to be aware and continue to do things like this to improve the experience for newer users/adopters.

Very much agree!

Me too.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but I was lying in bed thinking about something....

The vast majority of people who don't hold any crypto at all but have heard of bitcoin, believe bitcoin is truly annonymous. Obviously this is down to having the drug dealers and paedo's of silk road  etc rammed down there throat by MSM, but nevertheless, this is what we're up against.

NVM, got it to finally work...

Renamed file to darkcoin.conf and just used the default port.

Might want to look into that. It does not seem to obey the switch from windows-shortcut, to launch it with -conf= in the path of the shortcut.

Also, did not seem to like a custom port there, only the default one.

EDIT: I accidentally copied misinformation from a bad source on the internet for the Darkcoin vs Zerocoin post, I was looking for original sources this morning trying to vet my post and found it was wrong. Sorry!

Ps, can anyone who posted this anywhere edit and update your post to the new numbers?

DarkCoin is now more profitable (To BTC) mining than MaxCoin. Since early this morning in Europe and mining with GPU's!

Do we have an Official "Darkcoin accepted here" banner? If not we may need one soon, Please post imgur links here or the DRK subreddit!

This is the only one available, I think

this isn't good enough.. I'll improve it later. the top font looks unprofessional.

That isn't too bad, I know we have some graphic talent here. Let's get the ball rolling as I'm starting to advertise for us and we will need a proper "Accepted here" banner for merchants!

Also everyone don't forget to vote on mintpal to add DRK, and retweet my posts that concern Darkcoin. People are noticing us but with our great devs rolling out these big features soon it should catch on very nicely. https://twitter.com/Kreative_Crypto/status/436486080355770368 RETWEET!

How's about something simple like this?

Sent 1 DRK. Graphically the only time someone hasn't made me want to puke in this thread. Clean and easy on the eyes, good job.

I'd like to thank eduffield and the other developers for this critically important evolution in virtual currency. DarkCoin is what bitcoin should have been. Some might call it "Bitcoin 2.0" but would do better by saying: "DarkCoin is digital cash." - Child Harold - February 28, 2014

I've added a wiki to the subreddit. PM if you'd like to see something added or if you'd like to contribute:

http://www.reddit.com/r/DRKCoin/wiki/index

It has GOT to have an explanation as to what makes darkcoin different.  I don't even think half the people on this thread understand.  There are other coins that claim to do the same thing, but they do it differently.  Some use a service that obfuscates the transactions (this puts privacy into the hands of a central source, it  has to be trusted, which makes me wonder why not trust the Federal government then?)  Others have something similar but it bloats the block chain tremendously.  And yet others have a system which only works if you start off with 100% premine.  I assume this is a system that avoids bloat, but it means a totally different system.  I'm not technical enough to write this info up, BUT IT MUST BE CLARIFIED!!!  eduffield has implemented a refined version of coinjoin, not a direct version, it's different but the same concept.  It is the first FUNCTIONAL privacy centric coin.

Very good!  We'llprobably need several versions so that it will fit on any site.  This in white will be necessary, but I love the grey

Yes, this one is best and can easily be given a white background for choice  Smiley  However, I would  much rather see the non-shiny version of the coin.  The shiny one doesn't look so good when it's small and is too much in my opinion at any size Smiley

A very small chance. Any number of problems may shut this coin down. But like all things, it if really works it can be big and the payout will be accordingly.

I support this because we desperately need an anonymous coin and this one is the best so far I think (and every serious effort to should be supported!)

I think Monero (XMR) is very interesting.

Given the variable block rewards, is there any way to know how many DRK have been mined to date? I'm watching the dumping on the exchanges at anywhere near 0.002 and there's no way it can be mine-to-dump. There are only 13,248 being mined per day at the current diff / reward, yet people are dumping hundreds and thousands at a time. Much of it must be early miners or buyers who have the attention span of a goldfish, and I'm curious how many of them can be left at the current turnover rate.
