It boggles my mind that none of the bigger exchanges have any interest in this coin. I mean, they have no problem with infinite amounts of copycoins, but when it actually appears something out of the ordinary, they let 2 minor exchanges take the profit.. Ah well, I have no problem if C-CEX outgrows cryptsy anyways.
Just goes to show you where their minds at. And Cryptsy is ran by an egomaniac of average size who calls himself "BigVern" and has his own face as the main picture for the exchange. No thanks.

The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

you're good. Thank you for that, sorry for the newbie questions, only started looking into this a week ago. Still haven't found confirmation of being able to mine DRK solo though, is it possible or not?

Still haven't found confirmation of being able to mine DRK solo though, is it possible or not? maybe if you have millions to spend on equipment, but doubtful. You would have to compete with pools otherwise your work would constantly be invalidated. You could have solo mined when the coin first came out but those days are gone.

DarkCoin is still pretty new, and it hasn't been spamming everywhere with fake hype like the pump & dump copycoins do. It'll get onto the larger exchanges soon enough. In the meantime, enjoy the cheaper price.

I have some concerns about this. First if this is intedendet to be the official DRK logo: A Logo should always be highly stylized. The more stylised the logo is the more can it be used on all scenarios. What we got here is a artificial Photo of a coin. It has a texture, lens flare and shadowing on it. Therefore it is not stylized and will cause problems. First problem is that it cant be vectorized. This means you will loose detail on small scales as of small "DRK accepted here"-Buttons and will lead in less recognizability. In the need of a big scale the coin gets coarse, because the source texture will lack in detail. Second problem is you cant use it for any material layer. For example making a real coin out of it. What you basically do is putting a metal texture image on a metal textured real coin. This will result in an ugly coin. The same goes for the lens flare on the top of the 'D' and all kinds of shadowing in the image. Dont get me wrong, the Coin is looking cool in the image, you did a good job there. But its hardly usable as a logo or as raw data for further production. My second concern is the "stabilizer" (I dont know what they are called, but often they are described as making the currency logo "more stable" looking e.g. $€ BTC) on the D. It goes down. Down. Why down? Is the implication of this that the currency is going down soon? Better make that thing going up

I have successfully mined Emerald solo and was hoping DRK was something of similar difficulty that I could try, I know I would be against pools as is the case with any coin but is there something that makes DRK harder to mine than similar difficulty coins?

You wrote earlier that you have less than 300 kh/s? I'm mining at 6600 kh/s and getting less than 20 coins/day (less than 1 block per day). You do the maths

You get what we're saying now? Well I know my speed is slow but I managed to mine 45 Emerald yesterday, from what I can tell DRK coin is similar difficulty at the moment and I realise over time it will get harder. I didn't really want to get into the whole "solo mining is too difficult" argument, I do realise that it is much harder to solo mine, I just wanted to see if it was possible to configure sgminer to do it?

Nice, but can someone set up a p2pool nearer to EU or US? I'd be happy to contribute/partner/invest in a server, but I work offshore and maintenance is too complicated when I'm behind very tight proxies

Well, my coinbase bitcoins finally cleared. When I bought the bitcoins, I could have bought 185 darkcoins with them. Today, I bought 34.
Isn't there a way where you can buy when you want to buy, directly from your checking or something? It jus sucks to have to wait an entire week for your coin! (bad luck it being a holiday weekend)

What hashrate could I get on a single 280x let say 1050/1500?
bring the engine speed up to 1100! i get 2.2 mhash with it Cool thanks! Like how much darkcoin per day with that 2Mh/s? Is there any calculator site available? with a single r9 280x you're looking at somewhere AROUND 8 a day Wow! can't wait to try this coin! Here's my batchfile: sgminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://x -u x -p x --kernel darkcoin -I 13,13,13,13 -g 2 -w 256 --gpu-engine 1100,1100,1100,1100 --gpu-memclock 1250,1250,1250,1250 --thread-concurrency 8192,8192,8192,8192 --shaders 2048 --expiry 1 --scan-time 1 --queue 0 --lookup-gap 2 --gpu-fan 30-70,30-50,30-50,30-70 --temp-cutoff 90 --temp-overheat 85 I'm getting this error after running the batch... [18:42:15] Started sgminer 4.0.0
cannot open source file "blake.cl" #include "blake.cl" ^
1 catastrophic error detected in the compilation of "C:\Users\Jun\AppData\Local\ Temp [18:42:16] Failed to init GPU thread 0, disabling device 0 [18:42:16] Restarting the GPU from the menu will not fix this. [18:42:16] Try restarting sgminer. Press enter to continue: For future reference you don't need to use , to seperate values in an arguement when all those values are the same. So -I 20,20,20 is the same as -I 20. Yes that does make sense but it works for me since I used to have 7950 together with other 280x. Anyway that doesn't help. Oh yea, don't use that. Use this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=475795.0ISSUE FIXED! Now running 4x 280x at 8.6MH/s =)
