I'd like to thank eduffield and the other developers for this critically important evolution in virtual currency. DarkCoin is what bitcoin should have been. Some might call it "Bitcoin 2.0" but would do better by saying: "DarkCoin is digital cash." - Child Harold - February 28, 2014

I meant transactions like 10.25636012 what happens to the .00636012 if you're only going down to two decimal places, and won't that make the .00636012 easy to track?

With that implementation there must be rounding to the lowest denomination, so the payment would be 10.25 or 10.256. I think the smallest denomination should be about a penny in value, so if the price rises we could add lower denominations.

NEW VERSION CPU MINER, ABOUT 10% IMPROVEMENT*

https://github.com/elmad/darkcoin-cpuminer-1.3-avx-aes

I improved the cpu miner for another 10% and updated the project on github. I tried different processors and I've seen an improvement from 8% to 11%.
Remember, this version works only for processor that support the AES-NI instruction set.

Here the list of Intel processors supporting it:
http://ark.intel.com/search/advanced/?AESTech=true

And for AMD, the series:
Bulldozer-based, Piledriver-based and Jaguar-based.

Let me know what is your improvement with your cpu. Binaries for Windows version will come (some tip can accellerate the process Tongue)

*Donations are very appreciated Cheesy

I updated today the cpu miner.  Another little optimization. (i7-3770k 540khs)

There are 2 versions now: if you have not improvement cloning the branch master, there is a branch called "stable".
There I removed an optimization that doesnt work well with some CPUs. Surely, at 99%, for AMD processors is better the "stable" branch.

There is other margin to improve, but it needs time! Donate if you want that I still improve the CPU miner for the community.

NET HASH @ 6GH/s. It is amazing !!!  Wink

With pool.darkcoin.io down?

Still? Please use p2p from now on so you aren't at the mercy of these pool operators.

Connected to p2pool --> http://112.175.123.82:8372/static/

now all i get are these msg from the miner:
Pool 0 difficulty changed to 0.XX
stratum from pool 0 requested work restart

What should I do??

Nope, that's normal at p2pool.

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/P2Pool#Frequently_Asked_Questions

One more p2pool. peer.
http://112.175.123.82:8372/static/
http://112.175.123.94:8372/static/

Nice, but can someone set up a p2pool nearer to EU or US?
I'd be happy to contribute/partner/invest in a server, but I work offshore and maintenance is too complicated when I'm behind very tight proxies

How do I pass a second (failover) pool to minerd? it doesn't seem to like second arguments... Or maybe I"m just doing it wrong
On Linux:
Code:
#!/bin/sh
## Miner Failover Script

## Will continously try each pool until one responds, ordered by priority.

#GLOBAL
## Set options
RETRIES="3"
SECONDS="5"
MINERD="minerd"

#POOL1
## Set userpass information for first pool
USERPASS1="user:pass"
URL1="stratum+tcp://pool1:port"

#POOL2
## Set userpass information for second pool
USERPASS2="user.pass"
URL2="stratum+tcp://pool2:port"

while :
do
$MINERD -a X11 --retries=$RETRIES --retry-pause=$SECONDS --userpass=$USERPASS1 --url=$URL1
$MINERD -a X11 --retries=$RETRIES --retry-pause=$SECONDS --userpass=$USERPASS2 --url=$URL2
done

On Windows:
Code:
@ECHO OFF
:: Miner Failover Script

:: Will continously try each pool until one responds, ordered by priority.

:GLOBAL
:: Set options
SET RETRIES=3
SET SECONDS=5
SET MINERD=minerd-corei7-avx.exe

:POOL1
:: Set userpass information for first pool
SET USERPASS1=user:pass
SET URL1=stratum+tcp://pool1:port

:POOL2
:: Set userpass information for second pool
SET USERPASS2=user:pass
SET URL2=stratum+tcp://pool2:port

:CONNECT
:: Normal connect
%MINERD% -a X11 --retries=%RETRIES% --retry-pause=%SECONDS% --userpass=%USERPASS1% --url=%URL1%
%MINERD% -a X11 --retries=%RETRIES% --retry-pause=%SECONDS% --userpass=%USERPASS2% --url=%URL2%
GOTO CONNECT

:END

+1 evil genius points for you!

Thanks for the two versions. Smiley

Can someone explain the ASIC-resistance of DRK? Others use increased memory requirements relative to scrypt. Where does DRK's resistance come from? It uses multiple hashing functions but why can't an ASIC that performs all of them be built? How long will this resistance last?

first of, if you look back on how long it took for asics to take off, with bitcoins

the thing is to implement an algoryth onto silicon takes time, with lots of testing tomake sure everything is working correctly,

therefor, to implement 11 different ones takes even long erime, plus you have to make sure each one behaves correctly when bundled together,
and, that uses even more silicon estate, so more expensive to develope

exactly

And for those of you having trouble mining, are you using the miners from the front page, or the one recently posted?  It's not scrypt, you must use a darkcoin miner

Yes, I know. I've used the original miner and the updated one. Works perfectly fine on my desktop with a 7850, but my 7950s do nothing but throw out hardware errors. I cannot figure out what the problem is.

Does anyone have a nice config for Gigabyte 7970 3GB ?

This get me 1.7 Mhs each on 4x rig.

Code:
--thread-concurrency 16768 -I13 --gpu-engine 1050 --gpu-memclock 1450 --gpu-powertune 20 -g 2 -w 256 --lookup-gap 2 --auto-fan --expiry=1 --scan-time=1 --queue=0 2>logfile.txt

I hear I should get 2.0 but I can't seem to make that happen.
