Yeah, I just wanted to do something fun and different that might, maybe be a true anonymous altcoin... But it looks like a dead project...

and in 5 minutes you will suggest a 'new' alt coin to us which is soooo much better !

Yeah, the trolling/insulting isn't helping... I came here because I liked what this altcoin advertised... I have no suggestions, I'm just wondering why nothing works.

Clearly, I'm not nerd enough to fix everything that is wrong with the code... And it's true, I'm not. I was hoping to get help instead of insults. I quit babysitting gentoo about 4 years ago and absolutely refuse to do everyone else's job for them anymore. If it's broken, it's broken, and I'll move on.

Sorry you start the insult...

That doesn't include the miner tho, does it? Was trying to build the miners...

The miners are a different story than the client.

There is the first version, there is the enhanced 1.2c version and there is the AES+AVX 1.3 version. All of them can be built as long as you have the right 64 bit hardware, and in the case of 1.3 you'll need AES instructions on the CPU.

There's also a GPU miner.

CPU is a 3rd gen i3.

OS is Ubuntu 13.10... Which I regret because it's a mess...

I DLed all 3 and figured I try making something work, but, yeah, nothing works and seems to include bitcoin source code, it's even named bitcoin-qt.pro... and doesn't build with qtcreator.

Message at bottom of qtcreator:

Quote
~/Desktop/darkcoin-master/src/allocators.h:10: error: boost/thread/mutex.hpp: No such file or directory

Tried it as normal user and as root, same fail...

As for the miner:

Nothing wrong with the code. Both client and miners built ok, as demonstrated.

@ AlexGR: re-installed qtcreator and it's working now... got a build process hogging 100% of one core... Didn't see a place to say "MAKEOPTS=-j3" lols. I prefer to keep things in console as you have, but I was just trying stuff and qtcreator seems to be working... so far...

Spoke to soon, qtcreator failed again, abandoning it, running qmake and then make...

It's not an insult to say that nothing is working... It's not... If you can be insulted by a fact, well, I'm sure not apologizing. So don't help, someone else with a better attitude will, and is...

Can't see how you can call this a dead project when DarkSend is in active testing. But I guess down ramping is still too tempting, even at these low prices, huh?

Dude, you could have just said "I can't get the code to compile, can someone help me please". If you want help, don't start out by blaming everyone but yourself.

Had I done such a thing, I suppose I could understand people getting mad, but I didn't. It's just oversensitive, presumptive nerd troll time, as usual, the reason why I got out of it so many years ago... So much drama, so little work getting done.

Value Dropping and Dropping. SOLD ALL my DRK COIN. 550 of it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Weird , you were so enthusiastic. Selling all your DRK when we've hit our trading floor since the dumps and have been relatively stable for two days. I bought back the exact amount of accounts I got at 0.00198 at 0.001 so when we reach the halfway point I'll be breakeven for that purchase. I didn't practice dollar cost averaging when I bought at 0.00198 ( http://www.investopedia.com/terms/d/dollarcostaveraging.asp ) or I wouldn't be in as bad a shape for that purchase.

Had I done such a thing, I suppose I could understand people getting mad, but I didn't. It's just oversensitive, presumptive nerd troll time, as usual, the reason why I got out of it so many years ago... So much drama, so little work getting done.

Don't think you were being rude, simply looked frustrated for the linux compiling.

I'd like to thank eduffield and the other developers for this critically important evolution in virtual currency. DarkCoin is what bitcoin should have been. Some might call it "Bitcoin 2.0" but would do better by saying: "DarkCoin is digital cash." - Child Harold - February 28, 2014

Yeah, I just wanted to do something fun and different that might, maybe be a true anonymous altcoin... But it looks like a dead project...

Can't see how you can call this a dead project when DarkSend is in active testing. But I guess down ramping is still too tempting, even at these low prices, huh?

Huge red flag that a project is dead: nothing works and everyone trolls instead of offering useful info. Second red flag, files in archive don't match included docs. 3rd red flag, errors concerning a totally different code project are showing up int he attempted build process...

It's not crazy to think it was dead/dying... Glad to see I was wrong in that, but still not getting very far trying to build... qmake was happy, but make is failing... console output of fail shown above.

Just because you don't know how to compile on linux... people generally assume linux users either know what they're doing, or they ask questions nicely.  Anyway, please look at this: https://github.com/evan82/darkcoin/blob/master/doc/build-unix.md as you'll need to be sure you have all the dependencies.

Oops, I just realized that was the headless version, for graphical interface version, go here: https://github.com/evan82/darkcoin/blob/master/doc/readme-qt.rst

re-ran qmake, then ran make -j5; it built! I guess you just have to re-run the commands mindlessly until it works...

Client started and began syncing the chain, I set networking to my tor/socks proxy, restarted client, now it gots nuthin for network. Set it back to no socks/tor stuff, still won't reconnect... Restarted client several times, now it connects with no tor/socks. Guess that'll have to do for now...

Now, to start hashing... Try to make the cpuminer build...

Anymore details about what happened with the testnet?

Hi, yah.  We hardly got started when someone messed with the blockchain.  theirs was longer than ours, and it forked so we couldn't continue.  perhaps someone was trying to use the testnet wallet to increase their real darkcoin wallet?  I don't know, and I'm quite sure it can't be done, but it screwed up our test.  We couldn't send coin to each other anymore.
Thinking back on it, I'm wondering if theres a chance I might have caused it. After getting the wallet synced, I aimed some hashpower at it to get some starting coins for the test, then walked away for about 10 minutes. When I got back you had just shown up and pasted an address, but when I tried to send to it, nothing showed up, although I didn't notice any indication that I had been disconnected. When everyone forked, I believe it was said that it jumped from 100 blocks to 700, however thinking back, at the rate the client was giving me mined block popups, it was unlikely I was on a chain with only 100 blocks, as my client probably mined more than that. If my client got disconnected for a bit, or if my blocks weren't propagating for some other reason, it might be possible it forked to my chain when it was eventually picked up.

Look, I don't know if you're interested in the idea that your attitude might possibly maybe have something to do with the response you got, but everyone is actually super helpful here. If you can't write a post without lacing it with blame & insults, you can't expect a positive response.

Just be nice, it's not that hard. Glad you got it to compile.

Nope, it's not hard. I had no idea I was being mean or insulting. I admit I got a little testy when people gave me crap for no reason... Anyway, moving on.

Now I gotta get a miner working. Since I have no desire to screw with ATI/AMD drivers and the supporting mess of crap today, I'm going to try to make the CPU miner compile...

Quote from: ./configure
configure: error: Missing required libcurl >= 7.15.2

I hate chasing dependencies, I never know what package or version I'm looking for, and nothing tells me... Sure, 7.15.2... But none of the "lubcurl" packages have any such number, nor any way to know what is in the archive, or even which of the hundreds of these things I'm supposed to read a mind and find out... What a pain... Anybody know what I need to install to satisfy this?

I took a wild stab in the dark at libcurl4-openssl-dev package and poof, it worked. I remembered soemthinig messy about that file as a litecoin dependency when I was setting up my video card for LTC months ago... So, I guess there's undocumented magic in there. Lets see what happens next... Hmm, sudo make -j5 helps...

I have a freakin' minerd! And it seems to work, sorta... no ncurses, just scrolls... Whatever. It's better than nothing. Haul my butt to the top of this thread and find a pool...

Well just checked my log file, and it seems to indicate I only mined 49 blocks. Seems quite a bit lower than I thought, but at least my random speculation was wrong.

Hi guys,
Can anyone point me to a DRK mining guide for Bamt?

I recently installed this Vertminer BAMT installation:
http://www.reddit.com/r/VertcoinMining/comments/1ylpku/new_rbamt_and_v152_release_can_now_swap_between/

And I've managed to get sgminer to work great on Windows,
but I'm not sure how to get the DRK sgminer to work in BAMT.

Does anyone have a BAMT installation that is ready to mine DRK?

One of the biggest advantages of mining DRK, is the lower temps.
This is a very real benefit. I'm hoping to start mining under BAMT.

Thanks for your help Smiley
