Hi,

As promised, I'm currently working on an infographic and other promo materials.

This is the first draft. Constructive criticisms please. I used the reference given here for DarkSend.

Keep me motivated - Xt2BE83Nwts16Gm3VX8UPfMMbj5haWk514

I only have 0.83 DRK!

1. You should add the max coins in somewhere: Est. ~7M Coins in 2015, ~13M in 2020, ~23M in 2030 (84M theoretical max).
2. The way darksend works is incorrect. Checkout my diagram https://i.imgur.com/XMwyU74.png

Firstly AWESOME work!!  It's nice to have a one stop shop graphic for people to see how it works and it's advantages.

1) Totally agreee with eduffield and others, how long it will take to get to the 84M / estimated coins per year, we don't want people thinking there will be 84M coins in 2-3 years.
2) When talking about how Bitcoin is not anonymous and the transactions traceable.  I think it's VERY much worth pointing out how for example, if you bought a beer in a bar with bitcoin, essentially the bar tender, or anyone else, now that they have your wallet, they can look inside your wallet, and see how much money you have.  This is Key.  A lot of people don't know that, and it will freak a lot of people out.  With Darksend, people can't do that.
3)  To echo other people.  30% cooler and more energy efficient that mining scrypt is a huge bonus also. More eco friendly, and saves miners money!  I know I sure appreciate only pulling 500W at the wall, rather than 800-1000w I was pulling before.

Thanks again for your work! I'll send some coins your way.

Lotterymining.com

We where today attacked with a scam attack, it has been dealt with, and im considering legal action for trying to
cheat the pool, and thereby the users out of coins...

It's good that you want to help your miners out.  Much respect.  But Im curious as to what exactly happened?  I noticed the official pool is still getting A LOT of orphan blocks.  Could there be something else deeper going on?

It's more than that !!!!!!!

I'm runing 2 rigs with a total of 9 x R9 280X, it was pulling 2420W on SCRYPT mining.

Now it's only pulling 1180W and it's runnings 2 times cooler : so 50% economised  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I emailed http://cryptopapers.com/ to add DarkCoin and apparently they already had DarkCoin in their radar but the delay is due to testing all x11 algos and the complexity that comes with it.

Well it depends on how well your rig was optimized for scrypt mining before you switched to Dark.  My three cards were pulling about 1000W at the walling mining scrypt out of the box, but then I used custom firmware, and undervolted my cards, this brought it down to about 800W, and cooler.....   (Dark for me is 480W-510W)

BUT if you're using stock firmware, I would agree with 50% also!  Grin Plus seeing a higher hashrate at 50% less power usage is always fun!

Thing is, this is not a coin characteristic - more of a miner software "characteristic" with the code being "unable" (?) to be accelerated more with current software implementations for GPUs.

In the start it was "cpu only" due to lack of gpu miner. The fact that the "cpu only" was portrayed as a coin characteristic and not as the state of affairs, was then criticized after the arrival of a gpu miner because "...hey, we thought this was a cpu only coin". Likewise, if the gpu mining software is able to get further acceleration (and increased power draw), people will be "hey, we thought you said the COIN was environmentally friendly"... But it's not about the coin really.

Thinking of mining Dark again.  With the current diff, how many darks can I expect with 4 - 280x's? Thanks.

Around 12-14 / day

Could you pls. share your settings ?, I mine w/ 3 280x ,  getting ca. 6-7 coins pr. day ...

Ok the 12-14 average is because of average difficulty being in the upper 300s last 2-3 days. It used to be 20-24 DRKs/day just before that. Your 6-7 coins/day is not too bad for 3 cards over the last 3 days.

All settings are being maintained here by forum member aNTi-Vlact https://docs.zoho.com/sheet/published.do?rid=12cbm2fe8ce55abb2476daa0f8c576b442d40&mode=html

I wish it could be added to OP!

There is a link to the list on the first page under Other Tools. GPU and CPU are on separate tabs.

That's true, but currently for miners, they're saving money on their elec bill, and see a faster hash rate than they would with scrypt.  True that it's the miner.  But if a new GPU miner is released which is faster, but uses more elec, then it's the miners choice I guess.  Either way as a miner myself, to me and others it is (currently) a positive.  Sure it could change, but for now. It's a plus point Smiley

How do I connect to the official pool? Trying -o stratum+tcp://localhost:3333 as indicated by the site but it's not working... and I assumed it wouldn't, as that's my own address anyway

Also, does anyone own a VTX3D/Powercolor 280X card? I got one of them and while my Asus cards are doing 2.3 MH/s easy, my VTX3D card is only reaching 2.038 MH/s

Thanks Smiley

I was just reading an article about a guy who runs the biggest bitcoin mining opperation in North America. http://www.coindesk.com/inside-north-americas-8m-bitcoin-mining-operation/

He ended it was an interesting quote / outlook:

Quote
Until another coin is created that has its own unique value proposition, the alts will remain as transfer mechanisms for mining bitcoin. If any of the alts really start to pop, you can expect we’ll be building a mine for it.”

That made me think of DarkCoin! / DarkSend.  It's true, for any alt to survive and even challenge bitcoin it has to have an advantage over it.  DarkCoin / DarkSend DOES.  And it's the only one to.

This could get exciting! If done right. I have the confidence in it.

Hey LimLims, any bounties for french translation?

I'd like to thank eduffield and the other developers for this critically important evolution in virtual currency. DarkCoin is what bitcoin should have been. Some might call it "Bitcoin 2.0" but would do better by saying: "DarkCoin is digital cash." - Child Harold - February 28, 2014

I only have 0.83 DRK!

Here are my comments, echoing some of what others have said:

+1 for the word "private" rather than anonymous. A lot of people consider privacy good, but anonymous being associated with shady things.
+1 for a lighter color scheme. The black makes me think it is just for illegal things

The case for privacy has to be made much stronger. It shouldn't be about adult toys. I'd discuss:
- not disclosing your salary to everyone you buy things from. You could graphically illustrate this in "How BitCoin Transfers Work" if you add a salary payment to Joe. Then indicate Joe buys coffee from susan. Susan looks at the blockchain and sees Joe's largish recurring salary payments.
- not disclosing your wealth
- you might consider replacing adult toys with something more well accepted yet private, like a therapist.

There needs to be more technical meat to the part about how coinjoin is implemented, like fixed denominations and returned change. Also emphasize that unlike bitcoin mixing services it does not require trust in any third party.
